Daniel Jodocy is a New York City and Berlin-based professional drummer/artist with decades of performance and teaching experience. He is also an experienced instrument builder and expert restorer of vintage drums. A native of Eastern Belgium, he began playing drums and performing as a child, going on to attend the Conservatoire de Verviers and the Jazz Studio in Antwerp, Belgium.

In 1996, Daniel moved to New York City, where he began performing and teaching. During his 25 years in New York City, he has worked with many giants of the New York music scene and elsewhere, including Bill Frisell, John Zorn, Joey Baron, Peter Evans, Cyro Baptista, Kenny Wollesen, Butch Morris, Steven Bernstein, Cheo Pardo, Q-Tip, Lauryn Hill, and David Byrne. Daniel played on Brazilian Girls’ Grammy-nominated album New York City. He has toured extensively with keyboardist and vibraphone player Yusuke Yamamoto as their longtime collaboration Dizzy Ventilators. Daniel has also taught extensively, instructing many private students of all ages in Belgium and New York City, and leading masterclasses in Butch Morris’ system of improvised conduction at Bard College, the Universidad Nacional Autonomo de Mexico, the Ueda Joint Festival in Nagano, Japan, and elsewhere.

Daniel has exhibited his handmade musical instruments and sound installations in solo shows at the Undercurrent Gallery in New York City and the Meakusma Festival in Eupen, Belgium. Since September 2023, Daniel has also been based in Berlin, where he is collaborating with Robyn Schulkowsky, Simon Jermyn, and Keisuke Matsuno. Most recently, he performed with Kenny Wollesen at the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee. Daniel speaks German, English, French, and Spanish.
