Richie Blacker delivers a classic house pumper,  'Big Time Charlie', the first single from Stress: Club Culture - Vol. 2.

You wouldn’t second guess if someone told you ‘Big Time Charlie’ was straight from the dancefloors of the second Summer of Love in the 90’s. Starting out with a nostalgic beat with a filtered staccato piano slowly rising to meet a lush pad breakdown, the track encapsulates the euphoric feeling of freedom on the dancefloor. 

The Belfast-based DJ and Producer has been making waves in the dance music scene with releases on Skream’s Of Unsound Mind imprint, Anjunadeep and has had releases featured in Beatport’s ‘Hype’ chart. Stress: Club Culture - Vol. 2 is a club-centric compilation, featuring the likes of Danny Howard, Richie Blacker and Ben Hemsley with the full album being released on 25th March 2022.

If you are into Techno, it’s next to impossible that you have not come across Camea in your journey. Originally from America’s northwest rave scene, her move to New York in the early 00’s was pivotal in breaking her out globally as a DJ and producer. Camea’s time there was not wasted there; she founded Clink Recordings and is cited as a key member of New York’s next wave of techno – a scene that built the cornerstone of what is their current immense community and scene. Following her move to her current home Berlin, Camea joined forces with Ellen Allien’s legendary Bpitch Control as a mainstay touring artist and DJ. Fast forward to today and Camea runs the forward thinking techno imprint Neverwhere Records and in 2020 released her debut full length “Dystopian Love”.

We admit that we are long over due having Camea on SPEICHER and anticipate that time is made up as she has delivered a double header of epic Techno ferocity. “Awakening” hits where it counts – a dramatically cool, full throttle kick drum beats through an eerie mist of stabbing keys. Berlin vocalist and dear friend Saskia Krause teams up with Camea on vocals on the acid squelching, peak time ripper “Feel You”. Will Clarke has been making huge waves over recent time and reinterprets “Feel You” by immersing the original in an old school house groove. The result is massive and big room ready for the summer festival stages.

The steadily brilliant French producer Nathan Melja - who's made the rounds between choice outlets over the past half decade, from Mister Saturday Nights to Antinote, via Ninja Tune offshoot Technicolour and Opal Tapes, seems to have learnt Bruce Lee's lesson by heart, and his seamlessly fluid, no-nonsense debut foray on KOC is here to potently cement his status as one of Europe's number one club trailblazers, and one that knows all too well how to turn any dancefloor into an infinity pool of pure liquid euphoria.

Drawing its name from the physiological and psychological process that results in a confusion of one's sensory perceptions, 'Synesthesia' is indeed the kind of club single that shall trigger off massive reaction amongst right-minded bipeds and chromakey house suckers. Straightforward club business done right, Melja's original is a vivid kaleidoscope of skittish drums, swampy bass stabs and a well-rounded, supremely curvy synthwork, tailored to take ravers on a flash journey through space and time without the help of Richard Branson or Elon Tusk (pun intended).

Called in on remix duty, TTT affiliate and Incienso co-founder Anthony Naples delivers a more fragmented and ambientish variation, though functional and club-ready in its own right. Brushing even wider verbed-out pad tapestries for your brain to wander in, the track expands to deeper organic horizons with a field-depth that can not but recall that of the KLF and Bochum Welt's emotional soundscaping. Meanwhile, Karenn half Pariah takes care of whelming us deep into more techno-friendly terrains, true to his ever masterly touch for epic buildups and multi-level textural innovation, bringing up the acidic phlegm of Melja's original as he treats us to a carefully orchestrated ballet of synthetic whorls, contemplative chords and propulsive drum programming.

Coastal Haze welcome the new decade with one of the most exciting artists to come out of the UK of recent in @adampits.
