01 Sad To Think (Fka Mash Glitch Dub)

We have a massive remix package of Continuum's Xpress. Addex is  back with a deep, serious remix here. A thumping bass line intertwines with the booming, crackling drums work. Sprinkles of vocal loops, clicks and blips dance in and out the track with Addex's signature sound throughout. Forteba slows it down a bit with a chugging deep house rendition. The drums are dusty, as if they were ripped straight from a vinyl record. The pads are warm, ebbing like a gentle hot springs pool. Forteba wraps up with a vocal stab and synths from the original track. Katelanos takes his version even slower for a nice Slow House version. This would be a great opener for any set. There's a minimal drum approach here and for good reason. Katelanos adds a lovely piano lead to this mix which breathes even more emotion into the track. This is a remix package that has something for everyone. It needs to be in your crate. Play It Loud!

last november, a regular at my lounge sessions asked if i would work a choice of theirs into a mix, to which i ‘coolly’ replied, “sure, if it flows well, a good dj can mix pretty much anything”; an open invitation to chaos. 
the following session, Leticia (who is probably blushing from her new-found fame) brought me a cdr and said, “here it is, see what you can do with that”, 
“it’s not pop, or some kind of heavy rock, grunge, right?”, (surprised, people rarely follow thru) 
“no”, she said “listen.” 
so with the sun rising through my window, there i was, listening to Claude Debussy, trying to figure out how to spin classic piano with modern electronica, future soul and broken beat. 
life throws us curves, what the experience teaches you is what makes them valid; how you get beyond your habitual poses and make an emotional and/or spiritual connection. 
i realized i virtually only loop beatz, not melodies; i dig ambient, but i never play it, or contemporary jazz for that matter… so even though my sound is pretty unusual, for Brazil anyways, i had pretty much stopped challenging myself. 
so here’s to the challenges that make life the amazing journey it’s meant to be.

d(-_-)b . pheel plays future soul (electronica, nu jazz, brazilian, downtempo), at publicity events and private parties & heavy funky house, jazzy house & deep tech at larger events. 
I also co-produce an intimate, midweek lounge event, “Adults Only”. 

Bio: Londoner born & bred, I studied piano and percussion (orchestra) at school. While at Uni (Architecture), inspired by jazz-funk fusion (esp. Miles Davis/ Mongo Santamaria), I also studied congas, bongos, and later, djembé. 
The 1990s in the UK was buzzing with new rhythmic trends in electronica, so I made tracks with organic & electronic percussion (IDM, broken beats, deep house). On hols in 2004, in Sao Paulo, my eclectic tastes led to cameos at sunset parties, mixing jazz/ broken beat/ nu jazz (Miles, Pat Metheny, Steve Reich, Jazzanova, Bruno E, Blue Six, Positive Flow, etc.). 
Since 2008, I’ve played clubs in south/southwest Brazil: Confraria das Artes, opening party at the A-list “Caras”, Café de la Musique (Florianopolis). In Sao Paulo state, I was invited to Reloaded 1 & 2, a show case for djs spinning eclectic sets, and have played at numerous clubs in and around the capital. Music: I’ve released several bootlegs of nu jazz & broken beats artists, and officially, I remixed “Letting Go” by Sierra Hurtt (independent), some funky house for Imaani Brown’s label (Brown Skin), and Faint Frequency Records invited me to remix on the Veil, Chiqago, and Mendoza Eps (2013-15).
