Over the past 6 years WOLF Music have earned their stripes as stalwart purveyors of refined House and Disco. Now, in the follow up to Medlar and Greymatter’s debut LPs and EPs from the likes of Ishmael, Ossie and Casino Times they ready their 3rd LP from Dutchman Frits Wentink.

Now residing in Amsterdam, Frits has a glowing back catalogue of soulful, Lo Fi club material that’s touched Heist Recordings as well as WOLF in the form of his ‘Mouse’ and ‘Goose’ EPs. With an experimental approach to hardware and instrumentation, his work blooms naturally through jams and improv and in this - his debut LP: ‘Rarely Pure, Never Simple’ we see a development in this experimentation to enlivening effect.

Working with a meld of grubby samples, chunky percussion and the frequent vocal accompaniment of Utrecht based Loes Jongerling, Rarely Pure Never Simple is a journey through Frits’ influences forged into a cohesive pack of grooves and interludes tinged with a certain charming nostalgia.

Bass Cadet Records is excited to introduce its new series : Orbits. Originally established in 2012, the label also stands a little vinyl corner on Weserstrasse since june 2013, right in the middle of the always bubbling neighborhood of Berlin-Neukölln. Curated from the recordstore, the series is dedicated to the artists who support it and make its life. Leaning on strong ties of respect and friendship, Orbits will consist of a slew of releases featuring some of the most inspiring and influential artists of the electronic music scene.
Orbits will start with a re-issue of two Ron Trent timeless jams out of his “Dance Classic” album, released on Prescription on CD only in 2009. The store crew takes the occasion of starting the series to bring the tracks to the vinyl format for the first time. On the A-side lies “Hooked On Your Love - 1984”, a gorgeously deep and soulful composition, one of which only the chicagoan genius has the secret. As the “Dance Classic” album is built as a tribute to the first era of dance music and club classics, the track is developing on a chilly old-school dance groove with rolling congas and percussions, on which a lustful bassline plays with piano keys, heavenly synths chords and a sweetly intoxicating female voice. On the flip, “Welcome - 1982” delivers its lush pads and jazz-funk solos on a syncopated bassline and a stripped down boogie drum track.
As always, with these two tracks Ron Trent masters the underground art of deep, bringing the vibe to a next level of craft...

It’s difficult to describe the feeling when you know you’ve heard something that eclipses the mighty Mr Bird & Greg Blackman’s Ramrock Blue modern soul 12” classic ‘Over Again’ featuring the now legendary Tom Moulton remix. But many of you are going to experience that feeling and your feedback is going to reflect that moment when that single musical droplet of universal joyful harmony hits your hippocampus and you dissolve with happiness. 

There are three versions of ‘Where Did The Party Go’ -  on the A side is the funky Lo-Fi Classics original, taken from the album of the same name, produced & co-written by Steven Bird and delivered with gritty, Muscle Shoals confidence by Greg Blackman.  This version garnered mass plaudits from the soul cognoscenti – both DJs and radio presenters alike - on its first outing on the BBE label in July 2014.  Flipping the vinyl over, Ashley Beedle, Jo Wallace and Darren Morris deliver the two North Street remixes; the BPM has been dropped and as the 90’s RnB/steppers vibe kicks in, Mr Morris’s keyboards underpin the majesty of Greg Blackman’s vocal delivery – utterly sublime. No wonder Mi-Soul are already championing the ‘North Street’ Remix as their Record of The Week w/c March 13th 2017.  On the final version, Greg’s vocals are laid bare on The ‘Stripped Back’ remix - your soul will soar and you’ll remember the moment for a long time – savour it.

The prolific American producer Warren Harris is back again with his Hanna project. After recent releases on legendary labels such as Apron and Sound Signature, where he signed his last album in 2016, Hanna joins the Flumo crew and continues to explore the deep side of sounds with this new 5-tracker EP. 

Known for his own Jazz influenced melodies and hard punching broken House rhythms, Hanna does not disappoint on this EP that features, amongst others, the beautiful production "The Sacred", taking roots in Nu Jazz, Hip Hop and House Music.

The name Hugo Mari might not ring a bell just yet, but we’ve got a feeling this is about to change real soon. He’s released a handful of EP’s under his former alias Books on Omena and XVI including his own edit series on the latter label (check out his killer track ‘in the groove or his jazzy deep house collaboration with Zodiac called ‘Feel it in my Bones’). Considering he’s also remixed well known artists like afrobeat legend Dele Sosimi and grime master Trim, you might share our view of this amazingly talented and versatile producer. His “Change ur ways” EP for Heist is soulful, jazzy, deep and energetic with three varied originals and a classic soulful house remix by man of the moment, NDATL label head Kai Alcé.
