"Solsticio" is the debut single from DJ Raff's forthcoming album, "Encontrar." Set to release via Nacional Records on May 24th.

"Solsticio" is inspired by the "Willka Kuti", a celebration of great significance for the indigenous nations and peoples of the Andes in South America. It marks the threshold of a rebirth, where the first rays of the sun imbue us with energy, revitalizing mind, soul, and spirit.

"Ancestros" is inspired by South America's cultural richness and diversity, drawing from the music and rituals of its indigenous and Afro-descendant communities. I crafted the track's components with repetitive vocals and deep basslines to imbue it with a ceremonial character. I've always appreciated the contrast between emotive melodies and harsh percussion. For me, "Ancestros" is a humble tribute to our roots and the cultural diversity of our continent.

Encontrar is Rafael (DJ Raff)'s first full-length album in almost seven years. The last one was Movimiento, released in October 2017. It coincides with his seven years living with his family in London.

Encontrar speaks of concluding a long process. It is about the culmination of a constant search to understand himself and to know who he is creatively. The perspective gained from living in a place so different and far from where he grew up (Santiago, Chile) has helped him find his sound, connect especially with his surroundings, and create a unique language to develop and express his ideas.

The songs on Encontrar were created in his home studio in South London during the post-pandemic period, between 2022 and 2023. After several years of producing many singles, remixes, and EPs, which were shorter and more focused processes, he decided to embark on an album. This longer story closes one cycle and paves the way for another entirely different with a renewed perspective.

Insane - DJ Raff

London-based Chilean DJ and producer DJ Raff crafts lysergic, low-slung dance music, lacing together samples from across the Afro-Latin diaspora into a heady mix of percussive patterns and hypnotic melodies. With support from Gilles Peterson and Tom Ravenscroft among others, DJ Raff has established himself as one of the most prolific producers on the scene. He describes himself as a relator - or sonic storyteller - speaking in a “musical language” of kaleidoscopic rhythms and atmospheric instrumental moods that draw on myriad influences from the Andean regions of Chile, Peru, Bolivia and beyond.
