Inspired by VACATIONS' brilliant party, I decided to put together a mix of tracks featuring the goddess herself, tracks that just evoke those same feelings of sexy sophistication, and music from other "Sade-adjacent" artists.

11/8/23 Sometimes I get the urge to spin some tracks at home and I figured: "Why not record some of these sessions in case anyone wants to hear them?"  This is the first in what will hopefully be a series of live recording sessions where I'm just spinnin' whatever happens to tickle my fancy on that day!

3/16/24 Sometimes I get the urge to spin some tracks at home and I figured I'd start recording these live sessions for posterity :) There's no real theme with these tracks-- they're mostly just jams that recently came across my radar, or (in the case of the very first track) they're songs that randomly popped into my head.

Be prepared for heavy doses of David Morales, Masters at Work, Crystal Waters and some latin house tracks. Melodic Funk-Boogie (Funkmosphere Series, Vol. 3)

A down-tempo mix of hip-hop, soul & other rare grooves for all the late-night music lovers out there.  Features artists such as Robert Glasper, Erykah Badu, Dela, Tony Ozier, Buscrates (ft. Kiara Ravae), Georgia Ann Muldrow, Dilla, Byron the Aquarius, Daft Punk, Owusu & Hannibal, Mos Def, Ohmega Watts, 4 Hero and Positive Flow.   The last track is a dedication to the late, incomparable Minnie Riperton entitled "For Minnie" by DJ Cam.  I thought it was the perfect way to end the mix.

DJ Randy Watson - Nocturne

Well, first off "Randy Watson" is not my real name....this alias comes from one of Eddie Murphy's characters in "Coming to America." All my fellow children of the '80s probably already picked up on that....and if you don't know, check out the movie-- it's a classic!

I got my start in 2006 when Dam-Funk gave me the opportunity to be part of his weekly residency (along with Laroj, Billy Goods, Matt Respect & Eddy Funkster). We held down a weekly residency in L.A. called Funkmosphere for 11 years-- nothin' but top-shelf '80s funk/boogie and modern soul. If you ever rolled through one of these parties between 2006 and 2017, you'll know what I'm talking about!

These days, I'm one half of MIDNITE DISCO-- spinnin' at various spots in L.A. with the homie Kung-Fu Chris (Computa Games, Close Corners). The concept of “MidNite Disco” is a throwback to the late 70s and early 80’s music scene, where dancing would bring people together from all walks of life to express themselves in a shared celebration of life.
