D1ME, a native of the mystical city of New Orleans,LA is a multifaceted visual artist and DJ. Rinsing a wide range of genres from techno,house, juke, breaks, and a range of other heavy hitting genre bending sounds. Her intentional selections are deeply rooted
in her personal liberation to be spread to her audiences. The journey through art, music, and every other inch of culture started at a young age for them. Growing up in a cultural mecca, influences have been drawn from all walks of life,which has largely impacted
their approach to expression, DJing and music being two of many interests with equal passion. Pursuing DJing as an outlet within the past few years has grown rather quickly, being a part of New Orleans’ music scene she has played alongside her peers, and a few world and underground renown artists. With the drive to push her creative limits and music together, an experimental all techno b3b unit N*S*F*W (@Nsfw.nola) was born with DJs Gabriela (@GabrielaMaj ) and Lady Lavender (@ladylavender). This project explores a new definition of women's place in the DJ world, and the fusion of art at events that they produce together in New Orleans.
D1ME is creating her own planet of sound for others to enter. She takes pride in digging for Black and other POC’s music across the diasporas to expand the palettes of those who listen. Her approach to building sets is to challenge crowds to embrace a brand
new experience, her experience. She hopes to add to the conversation and relationship between dance and electronic music, within those sectors within their career. With her passion and drive she is a thriving addition to her community, and is eager to share it.

Our landmark 700th episode in partnership with Detroit’s Blueprint presents the first in a new three-part series exploring the untold history of Detroit techno from the perspective of the women who built it.

The history of Detroit techno is often recounted in waves. First there was the Belleville Three—Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May—closely followed by a second cohort of artists who further developed the sound in the '90s. Names like Carl Craig, Octave One, Robert Hood, Jeff Mills and Mike Banks are among those that have been codified in the official annals of techno history.

But there's another, lesser known story that is seldom told about the women who grew the scene right alongside them. Equally esteemed artists like DJ Minx (the founder of Women On Wax Recordings), K-Hand, DJ Cent, Stacey Hotwaxx Hale and more ran labels, collectives and DJ nights that aren't bestowed with the same credit as those from their male counterparts, and have consequently been lost in the chronicles of time. For the 700th episode of the RA Exchange, we counter correct this gender inequity with the first episode of a three-part series hosted and produced by the all-female Detroit collective and party series Blueprint. 

Alanna Greenlee, Janisa Nelson and Crystal Mioner embark on interviews that illuminate an alternative history of Detroit techno that unfurled alongside these better-documented techno waves, tracing the birth of a woman-led community that put mutual support at its heart and fought to earn respect from their male peers and the scene at large.
