When we got the call from the Robot Heart team asking if we were going to attend the Free Burn, and would we be able to DJ their 1st sunrise since 2019, we knew something special was about to take place.  

Both of us had performed solo sets on the bus many times in the past, but this was to be our 1st time playing as a duo. This special sunrise set is a dedication to the life of Robot Heart founder, Geo. 

We did our best to capture his inspiration, celebrate his contribution, and shine a light on his legacy.

We had several discussions back and forth with RH members that knew Geo well, and with that knowledge, we prepared special songs and spoken word moments to honor his memory.

Apart from that we did not plan out any of the set, and allowed the moment and energy to guide our selections and musical choices. 

We’d like to thank the entire RH Family for their trust and support over the years. And we’d especially like to thank all the true Burners who were in attendance, for adhering so well to Larry’s 10 principles, respecting the Playa, and reminding us all why we make this trek out to the barren, yet magical landscape, every year. Together we danced to celebrate life, and in particular, to celebrate the life of Geo, as he watched from above.  

We hope this recording brings a smile to the faces of all the lovely Burners who were in attendance, and also to all those Burners, including Geo (who were there in spirit) dancing in the dust, with sunshine and freedom, radiating all around us.

This marked my 10th year out on the blank canvas of creativity, known as the Playa.  It was unforgiving and magnificent and challenging and beautiful all at once. I tell myself every year, this may be my last, that the experience has pushed me to my limits of comfort, and patience.  But literally the second I get back to the default World,  I miss it dearly, and cannot wait to return. The last Come Down mix I made for Burning Man was 5 years ago, and with the explosion of energy and mega high vibes this year, I felt the calling to create another chill-out journey into sound. Think of this mix as your long Exodus back into reality.  Listen closely to the inspiring words of Larry Harvey sprinkled through out the set. This legendary man and his brilliant vision, which he so profoundly describes in his own poetically genius way, is the reason we all make the annual pilgrimage to this desolate barren land of LOVE. Isaiah Martin has been an integral part of programming the music for PlayAlchemist for years and is our Music Maestro for the annual Alchemist Ball. A fantastic start to 2023. Dreamscape / Crania chapeau! Location, production, and all the fun anomalies made this night memorable and the recording fire. Taking over from DJ Harvey made me kick off the set light and tropical before I found a clear direction on where to take things. Here is the live recording of my sunrise set at Envision Festival, 2023. 

This set features tons of unreleased music from my label Sol Selectas, coming out in 2023. I also got to play several of my favorite feel-good classics.  I was only supposed to play 2 hours, but Envision was kind enough to let me continue for another 30 minutes. The energy of the beautiful crowd was pure electricity, and kept me going. Thank you to the lovely crowd of sun worshipping dancers, the Stage managers and Sound techs, and the festival organizers. Enjoy this audio journey, and for those who there, I hope it brings back some timeless memories of that special morning we shared together.   Pura Vida!
