‘Welcome 2 The Jungle’ is the line-blurring, genre-warping house/trap/bass tune from a dream team of three exciting talents from the scene and a rough and ready vocal feature from Jamaican artist Richie Loop.

The song is recognisable and unique from the outset and throughout, commencing with a fierce drumline reminiscent of some tribal percussion right up until the giant room/EDM style drop scythes through the speakers it emanates from. The track gets interesting when it transitions effortlessly to a more trap-influenced sonic profile, over which Richie Loop shows the full extent of his unmistakable delivery and tone of voice.

Renato Solleveld, or Renato S, is a versatile and skilled DJ and producer from Amsterdam who found initial success playing the clubs of his hometown. Some 13 years into his career now, Renato is playing worldwide, most notably at DJ Mag Top 100 club Insanity in Bangkok, with his music supported by the likes of David Guetta, Steve Aoki, and Hardwell.

Austrian-born DJ and producer NAEMS is a young and upcoming selector who made his debut in 2016 and has since released over 30 songs on some of the most significant labels in the scene, including Spinnin’ Records and Revealed Recordings. With millions of streams across multiple platforms and multiple top 20 entries on Beatport, NAEMS is turning the eyes of many and will continue to do so with releases like this.

US-based DJ and producer Roy Orion is another forthcoming talent from the scene; with five years in the industry, Orion is just making his name in the big leagues of the EDM world. Most known for his hit with Valy Mo and KAYTON ‘Make You Sweat’, Orion is a dynamic producer that can cut, switch and swap his style wherever he sees fit, and does so seamlessly on this record.

The track is completed by hearty and energetic vocal features from Jamaican artist Richie Loop, who first gained prominence in his home country as a dancehall vocalist and had a smash hit in ‘My Cupp’. Since then, Loop has gone on to work with a wide array of EDM producers and completely transform his musical style. Some producers he has worked with include Quintino, MR. Black and Mike Bond.

As their name implies, Los Angeles-based duo Rawtek unite organic, percussive styles from around the world and a heavy, state of the art electronic approach to music producing. Perhaps more so than ever, this soundclash plays out on their new Tropic Graffiti EP, which takes in sounds from Rio to London to New Orleans.

Tropic Graffiti EP is Levi Jackson and Daniel Medina’s debut release on Barong Family, after having collaborated on Victor Niglio’s ‘Lionmane’ for the label two years ago. Each track here is a collaboration with another artist adding their flavor to Rawtek’s fusion sounds. ‘Beleza’ takes on Brazil’s baile funk rhythms, with France’s Herve Pagez joining Rawtek in cooking up a frantic outsider approach. The carioca vibe continues into ‘Muzzle’, before the track quickly morphs into a booty-shaking dubstep bounce, the result of a cross-Atlantic collabo with Danish trio Nonsens. The sound of New Orleans is even more present in ‘Rock High’, courtesy of NOLA MC Keno rocking an ultra-percussive monster created with fellow Barong Family member Juyen Sebulba. For ‘Tacos in LA’, Danish producer Stoltenhoff, another Barong alumnus, sent Levi and Daniel a classic breakdown melody, to which the duo added a series of huge drops for maximum impact. You could say that they’ve left their mark.
