Thinking of people when talking of Electronic Music in Greece, Tash is definitely one of the strongest personalities!

Being around Electronic music since early ‘00s, his passion for creativity & entertainment of crowds has quickly established his name as one of the most promising national artists to watch, perorfming in major venues in Greece & Balkans, sometime before his very first releases on labels like Baroque, Sog Records, Tribal Vision, and Flow to name a few, back in the mid ‘00s.

As a DJ, he's been one of the most beloved Greek artists of his generation, guiding dancefloors on music trips, varying from deeper Melodic House to Progressive House, up to Techno, always satisfying even the most high-demanding ones. Some of the artists he shared decks are: Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, Guy Mantzur, BLANCAh, Agents Of Time, Moonwalk, Sebastian Mullaert, Popof, Robert Babicz, Andy Moor, Gabriel & Dresden, Tiesto, ao.

As a Producer, he's been supported by the likes of  Solomun, Maceo Plex, Sasha & Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Joris Voorn, Nick Warren, Guy Mantzur, ao. Apart from that, he was the Founder of Movement Recordings alongside with dutch veteran producer/dj Stage Van H, since 2008. His music has been signed on labels like Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank, FSOE UV, Timeless Moment, Mango Alley, and Just Movement to name a few, and the last few years he can be seen & heard around the world, touring in Europe, Middle East, Asia & South America sharing some proper Tash and Movement beats & pieces!

Depth Perception Sessions #25 - Tash

We first had the pleasure of getting to know today's guest in Oct 2020 when we premiered 'Fathom', the title cut from his 5-track EP on Shadow Puppet. With an evolving sound encompassing Colombian rhythms, electro blends, dazzling synth lines and his own vocal touches, he portrays a sense of magical realism in his original productions. Split between Bogotá & London, we are pleased to present OKRAA with a mega groove-inducing, offbeat, hip-hop, acid-infused one hour guest mix, including a new unreleased track of his own, a perfect kickstart to the summery times ahead.

During his career, OKRAA's tracks have been played on BBC Radio 1, KEXP, NTS Radio and Rinse FM. Press reviews include Resident Advisor, DJ MAG, Mixmag, and VICE, among others. During his career, he has performed at Pop Kultur Festival (Berlin), SXSW (Austin, TX), Mutek, Festival Estéreo Picnic and has toured through the UK, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Spain, Slovakia, Mexico and Colombia. 

His sound has evolved through the years, always taking the Colombian rhythms imprinted on his DNA to the language of different genres of electronic music. He has always pushed his sound further into experimentation with every release, taking listeners through a diverse journey during the listening process. For his compositions, Juan decided to stay away from computers and digital workstations, working with an MPC Live + numerous synth modules, in the aim of coming up with an end-product that reflects the sound of his live performances. Thumping electro blends with cununo samples and dazzling synth lines to portray Magical Realism. 

He has won the 'Bogotá, Capital creativa de la música' national composition award + a 'Best Electronic Artist' nomination in Colombia's most important music awards (SHOCK awards). 

After having his 2020 EP release entitled ‘Fathom’ receive great exposure, including a premiere of the title track on Getting Deeper, 2021 and 2022 come up with several releases lined up already on different local and international labels to be announced soon.

Showing very early his endless love for music and growing as a talented child with an absolute pitch ear, he started to play piano at age of 5 and received his early musical education and performance skills in classical piano.  

 A serious melomane, a freak of vinyl shops, he spent most of his teenage period digging, collecting and recording music from any available source. A boy with headphones in his ears, he started to make his first 90 min mixes for friends' parties on tape cassettes, using simple methods of home tape recordings. 

Always being a real fanatic of intelligent, underground genres like  psychedelic and progressive rock, funky & acid jazz, early dark new wave and ethnic fusion, he found out for himself electronic music in early 90-s, listening to Jean Michele Jarre,  The Orb and Kraftwerk and later on to R.Miles, St. Germain and Kruder & Dorfmeister. 
 
 An everlasting fan and a geek follower of contemporary, electronic underground genres, he  constantly digs the innovative, intelligent and eclectic sound for his sets and production projects.
 Studied electronic production and sound synthesis in BPM school in Tel-Aviv. and took private master classes from the best electronic producers in Israel. 

He has been playing in clubs, dance bars and outdoor events all over Israel since 2004 and has become publicly known for his unique musical taste, intelligent and deeply pumping sets, harmonic mixing techniques, combining various genres into one long dancing composition.      

Under his scene name Sapiens, he has produced deep progressive and melodic tech house music since 2006 and has established since then several electronic dance lines: Miniprog Sessions, Urban Deepsters and DeepSpeeD  

Has a Deep side project Sharp Ear, and he is a resident DJ at various famous worldwide radio shows such as Groundworx sesseion on Siren 107.3 FM  (UK), Golden Wings (Argentina), Triplefire music (South Africa/UK) and Proton Radio (CA, USA) 

 A resident of  several outdoor production crews (Amnesia, Phase,  etc.) 
 
Releases his tracks on Pangea Recordings, ICONYC, Stellar Fountain, Baroque, Particles to name a few. 
 
Everything that attracts Sapiens' Sharp ear, be it classic music, singing birds or urban noises on his roof has its own influence on his compositions. 

Lives in Tel-Aviv and works in his own studio.
