This mix celebrates the man, the myth, the legend - Travis Cannel. Travis is a good friend of mine from college and he was hosting his bachelor party in Miami. The timing was perfect because Covid19 was on a downward trend, so it was safe to go to the best club in the world - Club Space! It had been awhile since any of us really celebrated anything like we used to so we went VIP style upstairs at the Terrace section, where Lee Foss was djing. The night was crazy and one for the books. I wrote down some of the tracks that really stood out from the night and put them into this mix. Can't wait for the next event!

Ryan felt jealous that Owen had his own mix (v9), so here is Ryan letting his brother know what's up.

This year has been pretty crazy. It started out with having to deliver Ryan in the bathroom with the help of a 911 operator's guidance. He wanted out fast! Thankfully no complications. It was very intense and surreal.

After that the entire family got COVID-19 and at a very inconvenient time - during the Sasha and Digweed concert. They were playing a few years ago and that got canceled due to Covid and now this time we couldn't go because we all had it instead. In a typical revenge fashion, I channeled my frustration into this new mix on behalf of Ryan to make up for missing the show.

Volume 14 (Ryan Edition)

It has officially been 10 years since the infamous first meet at "The Den On Sunset".

I couldn't be more thrilled with how everything panned out and I sometimes wonder how different things would have been if I never showed up there, especially now having two great kids together. It makes me really value the time we have together and appreciate our life paths crossing that very moment.

I remember taking this photo randomly around 5 years ago at a brewery with our friends Liz and Mel. I immediately knew it would be perfect for a dj set so it has been tucked away until now.

It's been almost 20 years, since Dave, Daven, and myself were living on Elm street in Beverly Hills.

To celebrate, all three of us are going to Miami for Dave's birthday. We tried to do this years ago, but got stuck last minute when Covid19 came out of nowhere.

I laughed out loud putting these photos together.

Yo Thie! How are ya?

This mix is a tribute to my best friend, best man of my wedding, best CEO I know, and second best Doom2 player (zing!).

I remember back in high school bringing my computer over and coding into the middle of the night on his kitchen table to get a 3d cube to spin on the screen. Who would have known we would keep at it and come together to build this amazing company Xano? 

So who exactly is Thie? Thie is a name of one of our first customers from 20+ years ago. It was the first deal to go bad that we eventually gave up after 3.5 years of never ending iterations. Maybe we were to blame for getting ahead of our skis - maybe it was just perfect storm of scope creep. 

Since then we kept joking about the experience and eventually the joke evolved into us calling each other by that name - basically a game of telephone lasting decades. Regardless of how absurd all of this may sound, it was a great learning experience and clearly something we will never forget.

Xano Hawaii 2024

This year marked Xano's official get together for the entire company in Hawaii!

I've known some of these individuals longer than 5 years and I've never met them in person until now. It was amazing seeing everyone and I'm looking forward to what we can dream up for next year!

Volume 18 (Hawaii Edition)

Wow! This has been the single most challenging project I have ever done "on purpose"! :)

Xano itself was a slow drip that turned into what it is today, but XanoScript was a massive undertaking with lots of mountains to climb.

NERD ALERT - We invented a new markup language that has the structure of a configuration language like YAML, but the flexibility of a programming language. 

I've got a great appreciation for the entire Xano team for helping brainstorm, validate, and come up with enhancements for this project. It has been an exhausting but amazing journey. I couldn't be more excited hearing positive feedback from our community. I can't wait to see this evolve and start getting AI systems to generate and enhance it even further.

This mix was created to take a moment and celebrate this massive accomplishment along with Owen's 6th birthday where he showed everyone his dj skills!

Volume 19 (XanoScript Edition)

The tenth mix is finally here and it is dedicated to Xano - along with the team behind it. Most notably Prakash has been invaluable in helping to productize Xano through countless iterations on design to make complex operations feel easy to use. We have achieved some major milestones and it felt like it was time to make another mix to celebrate them. www.xano.com

My music style has definitely changed have the years. There were times when it was all about high bpm's with dark hard house tracks. Now I prefer a nice slow 120bpm. I personally think it is more difficult to make quality music at a slower bpm, so when I stumble across a good track - it is REALLY good! Some of these tracks were very difficult to mix together. Ableton really helped with this because it allowed me to re-edit the beginning and endings of each track and lengthen or even remix in some cases in order to allow for proper transitions.

Volume 10 (Xano Edition)

I'm turning 40 years old and have decided to go back to Miami for the Winter Music Conference. This will be my 14th year going, which is crazy to say. I guess I like it!

We've got a big group of my closest friends and family going for a 5 day trip. It is going to be amazing. This mix was created because I'm so excited for this trip. I can't wait to get there and share the experience with everyone.

Volume 11 (Miami Edition)

What a year! After having my birthday canceled by the Covid 19 virus and being stuck at home for eternity, it felt time to channel this pent up energy into something fun! The end of the year brings not only hope for a better 2021, but it also signifies all the work Jack, Prakash, and myself have been doing to officially open the doors publicly to www.xano.com in early Jan 2021!

I also wanted to give a shout out to the Elm crew who keep me motivated to keep making these mixes. Next combo wrap is on me!
