StraightOn Black is definitely one of my all-time favourite!
In my opinion, there was no other label ever releasing music like this. It has a touch of hardstyle, hardtrance and techno. I usually simply call it SOB-style because I cannot find an appropriate word to label it.

2009 the label went defunct and its main producers Thilo & Evanti started up a digital label called Analogue Is Dead (AID). You can find plenty of releases in SOB-style there as well.

A Dedication to StraightOn Black (15-09-10)

From Nature One and internet forums I know the people organising techno events in Göteborg. Thus I got the chance to play at one of their parties when I visited the city!
The venue was small but filled with a lot of people that were there solely for the music. I will never forget this first gig abroad and thinking back makes me smile :-)

The mix starts with techno and throughout the 2h I played it takes you on a trip to trance, acid, hardtrance and harder techno. A selection of both very old and recent tunes, classics and unknown bangers.

Diversity 05 (May 2010)

Tracid Traxxx, what can I say? Definitely among my fav labels! I know almost every old Kai Tracid track by heart and can speak along with it and it's also the label that has the biggest share in my record collection.

That's just how it is. The combination of trance & acid is a sound I will never get sick of. Tracid Traxxx has also had a huge impact on the early hardstyle scene and its releases were forward thinking and unique back then.

Two years after the first dedication mix to TTX I decided to make another one. There were simply too many awesome tunes left that I didn't play in the first edition...

Perhaps I should do a 3rd one as now both the first and the second focused on the Hardtrance and acidic releases while there was plenty more interesting music released on TTX.

A Dedication to Tracid Traxxx II (03-09-10)

David Rzenno and Dirk Nothroff (aka DJ The Crow) are the people behind this wonderful label! Unlike Kai Tracid, Soct Project and the others responsible for the infamous german hardtrance sound, Überdruck is not based in Frankfurt but near Hannover.
Additionally, I'm not aware of any collaboration between the "Frankfurt guys" and Überdruck.
(Except for some artists that had releases on both UBD and TTX / DOSE)
Thus, Überdruck pushed its very own hardtrance sound and I think I could always tell if somebody  played an Überdruck Records release in the middle of a set!

Pounding. Dark. Acidic.

Too bad they apparently stopped releasing music. But you can still see them play at gigs! Mostly in the UK though where they are pretty popular.
Anyhow, the music is timeless and will always make me go nuts!

This is essentially the set I played at Four Runners Club on 31st October 2013. It was not recorded live, so I've just redone it at home.
The party's theme was "From Past To Future" and I was the 'early hardstyle doctor' bringing banging medicine to the people!

Get Your Fix #4 (January 2014)

This mix dates back to 2011 and is a dedication to Druck. It's an awesome label! Basically, every single release on it makes me smile when listening to it.
'Druck' has nothing to do with the label 'Überdruck' but is also a well-known label in the hardtrance scene.
It used to be a sublabel of Tracid Traxxx but Druck is still running although TTX is defunct.

The main people behind Druck are Frank Zenker aka Scot Project and Kai Winter aka Kan Cold. Furthermore Kai Winter is part of the famous hardtrance projects Hennes & Cold and Derb.
Non-surprisingly you can find many classics among the releases of Druck!

This mix contains only 9 tracks. I chose to play almost all of them full length as the build-ups are awesome. They are full of details, create a lot of drive and then break down. Typical melodies follow and then it builds tension again to the climax. Hardtrance in perfection!

Twilight Zone 020 (March 2025)

This mix probably has an unusal build up as it starts rather hard and acidic while it takes a turn to different genres in the middle that are softer. Towards the end some trance is to be found as well.
First I wasn't sure if I liked the evolution myself but after another listen I decided it was fine.

Analogue Is Dead is the label Thilo & Evanti started after SOB was shut down. They continued to release music with their unique sound which I can't put in a specific genre and thus always called it SOB-Style.

This mix contains many of the AID releases plus additional remixes done by T&E in the period od 2010 to 2013.

I said it before and I say it again: The work T&E have done and the type of sound they pushed has always been underrated!
