'Funky Skunk' is an hour long hip-hop mix, showcasing the finest tracks from over the last few decades. The majority of the set focuses on the early stages of the genre, with Shadow selecting the best in 80's hip hop and early electro - where tracks were made the good old fashioned way; a tight loop of beats, sampled breaks, primitive scratching and an MC. Cheeba returns with a mix more typical of his live DJ sets. Setting out on some re-edited trip hop from the likes of Depth Charge and Waxfactor leading through to more upbeat dance floor devastation from Diplo, Afrika Bambaataa and Peter Parker. From the Ninja catalogue, The Slew and Scruff jostle for space with King Cannibal and two edits from DJ Food's recent EPs. Typically layered and cut up this is Cheeba back on a short break from his video adventures.

Solid Steel Radio Show 5/2/2010 Part 1 + 2 - DJ Cheeba

It's Solid Steel resident DJ Moneyshot and his latest epic mix, You Are The Infinity. Looks like he's put down his trademarked party-starting record bag this week and plumped for a selection from the crate marked 'deep'. The crisp drum kicks of vintage Jungle get added to a hypnotic dose of self-help records, Rock breaks, classic Hip-Hop and downtempo beats. Each show was designed to illuminate the listener to different facets of my career up until that point. I basically had three hours to bring people up to speed so that the new album had context. At one point they asked me what I was going to name it, and I had a funny picture of a guy in my phone, so I used his image and added the hashtag '#Radioface,' for whatever reason. In 2009, I consulted for, and appeared in, Activision's DJ Hero video game.   As part of my involvement, I performed at quite a few industry events and eventually did a couple of club dates.  Some of these sets were more rehearsed than others, and the quality varied.  This one, recorded live on Halloween night at a KCRW benefit, was far and away my favorite of the bunch...both in terms of technical display and song selection.  I'll post some of the other recorded sets later, there's some nice moments along the way.- DJ Shadow
