It was Friday the 13th of October, burnt orange maple leaves quaked in the forest surrounding the small, isolated, coastal town of Arcata California. On this auspicious night preceding a solar eclipse, the people gathered in the town square to reverberate with the bass vibrations dripping from the sound system. The beats were heavy and deep, and the vocals came mostly from powerful female voices. The crowd was immersed in the dark feminine power well into the night, before the long wet winter took hold.
