Here is the first of a series I like to call :
"Chasing The Sunrise" 🌚🌞

For those of you who know me, you know how much I LOVE the magical hours between 3AM until the sun welcomes in a new day.

For those who may find this public statement a little crazy, I respect you just as much as I respect my weird passions like this one.

Every chase is different but one thing they all have in common is that every soul on the dance floor has to be present with purpose. Past a certain hour, the visitors are gone and only the residents of the festivities reside. This creates a unique energy that seems to inspire the best out of me every time.

A clear starting point with infinite possible endings. NOW that's my kind of adventure 🧙‍♂️

The music has to be adaptive and receptive to what each individual is feeling and the overall energy of the group. All bets are off. It is a container where I feel free to explore many types of music without staying in one box.

Learned from observing the Shamanic ways of sensing and guiding, my current medium seems to be whatever turntables are in front of me.

Each one of these sets will vary authentically from the space from which they were birthed from.

This one is the simple desire to smile have fun and get down to a marathon of cool VOCAL tracks !

If you enjoy this half as much as I enjoyed playing it then LIFE IS GOOD.

When I heard that Robot Heart was going back to the playa and that we were gonna be able to make a beautiful proper send out and very emotional tribute to the one and only Geo, I didn’t hesitate once, I booked a flight and went straight to BRC.
  
That particular night was special.
 
Full of love, a lot of madness and beautiful colors hahaha  You know many people say it was the best burn ever, well it was! Why? Because it was the perfect reminder that when like minded people gather and they do their best to create magic, it happens! And that without any government or rules, just the will of making this world a better place and each giving what they know how to do best.

From the 1st day I started my electronic music career I had a phobia. I NEVER wanted to be labeled and imprisoned to a single genre of electronic music. I wanted my sound to be beyond eclectic - no borders, no boundaries, no limitations. Free to explore the depths of ALL things electronic, whether its 98 bpm soothing downtempo or 132 bpm Detroit techno, whether it be housey or trancey. Throughout the past quarter century I have been meticulously crafting my sound so I can tell this electronic story. Anyone can play a range of genres within one performance, but there are very few out there that can seamlessly thread it together for hours on end while keeping an elegant identifiable sound. Fear no more.

"The goal of this mix was to straddle the line between a few different sounds I’m really vibing on right now. We start things off with some haunting melodic house and transition through some indie dance and ultimately land with some peak-time bangers that have been sure bets for me this summer.

I have always been a firm believer in the power of spoken word samples from across the world to elevate house music into a more cerebral place. I have also included a collection of vocal records that tug at the heartstrings and, I hope, pull you into goosebump territory. Great songwriting in any genre is impressive, but I hold a special place in my heart for those producers and vocalists who can bring everything together in an underground record that can also work with a broader audience.

The last time I did an Electronic Groove Podcast was nearly a decade ago! Big thanks to the EG team for their continuing hard work to shine a spotlight on the various elements that make this music and culture special.

On a more somber note, please keep an eye on friends and family that may have gone quiet over the last few weeks or months. Everyone’s dealing with some level of depression, anxiety, and burnout due to the pandemic and the state of our world right now, so try to do your part to help those that may be struggling know that you’re there and feel less alone. Julie/Anne, a passionate music lover and a very talented emerging artist from the Montreal underground music scene. Born out of the underground through the encounter of the prog and the techno. This brought her in 2015 to get into djing, and she did it her way by only following her strong intuition and musical sense and most of all by self-teaching herself.

As 2020 was turning out to be a nightmare for many of us, Julie/Anne (CAN) rose to the occasion, leaving an indelible mark in music lovers’ hearts. Back in February 2020, after she literally floored everyone at Velvet Speakeasy (a well-known venue in Montreal), she continued spreading her love of music in many ways, as everything was shutting down. She made her mark with her FB live sessions, recorded collabs with Paris (France), Oslo (Norway), collaborated with SuperSonic Gin to curate an amazing Spotify playlist featuring local electronic productions as well as being invited on AfterHours.FM. Julie/Anne has also a passion in lending a hand to help great causes. That’s why she is involved with FK en Musique, a non-profit organisation that raises awareness and funds to help cure Cystic Fibrosis by sharing musical experiences. She is implicated not only as a DJ, but also as an artistic director, marketing consultant (as she has over 20 years of experience in that domain) and member of the board of direction. One of her biggest accomplishments so far, has been the opportunity to open for Eekkoo (Canadian producer - mau5trap) at Piknic Electronik in July 2021, the most sought out summer event in Montreal. When dancefloors shortly reopened again in November 2021, she had the privilege to be invited at Salon Daomé, Espac3 and Nhau bar.

As she never stops evolving, Julie/Anne recently decided to pair up with producer Lilla Støv and is currently working on her first productions. |Wolken| is now available on all digital platforms and received early support from Hernan Cattaneo.

In terms of musical styles, Julie/Anne does not define herself as a “one genre” DJ. She creates sound journeys that weave various textures and sounds, whether they come from the melodic house, dark progressive, even organic and afro sides. As a true artist, she crafts her sets according to the desired ambiance, but always with her unique storytelling. If you are lucky enough to attend one of Julie/Anne’s gigs, you will rapidly find that she’s a true, authentic, and very passionate artist who just loves to perform live in front of music lovers from everywhere. There’s just an indescribable energy about her that makes you ask for more.

Siavash is the mysterious Canadian legend behind the chart topping record label You Plus One. This eccentric artist is a 25+ year master DJ and an accredited innovator of the Northwest underground music scene. Born in Iran to deaf parents during the Islamic revolution, he emerged from a challenging past to build an impressive presence in the electronic music industry.


Siavash is an animated performer best known for being a musical journey-weaving wizard. He honed his brilliant technical skills during the vinyl-only days of the 90's. His unmistakable sound resembles his charming personality that draws so many to him: powerful, dirty, magnetic, and emotional. His original studio work has been signed to iconic labels such as Get Physical and Mobilee. Siavash’s critically acclaimed music has placed high on multiple Beatport Top 100 charts. In 2022 he also launched an ongoing collaborative project with techno pioneers Pig&Dan.


As label-boss of You Plus One, Siavash is very involved in the creative direction of each release. He handpicked the YPO roster which now boasts leading international talent including Rodriguez Jr., Oliver Schories, Super Flu, and Einmusik. With this label he’s ventured to help put Canada, especially the west coast, on the global dance music map. 


In addition to being the creative-architect behind successful brands and venues, including his own infamous underground afterhours, Siavash has carved a touring career with his addictive combo of style, soul, and stage presence. He has played regularly at top venues and festivals across the planet including Sisyphos (Berlin), Thuishaven (Amsterdam), BPM (Tulum), Lightning in a Bottle (LA), Club Space (NYC), and is currently an international resident at Latin America’s most legendary club, BarAmericas. Siavash continues to win hearts and gain a cult-like following wherever he’s heard around the world.
