After four years, the enigmatic Italian producer and artist DJ Silenzio literally breaks the silence with their sophomore album, "Ears Narrow Open." Emerging from the quietude since his 2021 debut, DJ Silenzio crafts a sonic artwork that redefines the boundaries of electronic music. This album is a captivating blend of footwork influences and the iconic sounds of the Roland TR-808 drum machine, woven into a tapestry of naught, inevitable hisses, and subsonic whispers.

"Ears Narrow Open" embarks on a journey through minimalist intensity, where whispers crescendo into an avant-garde cacophony. Emphasized also by an intended low bitrate encoding, as the album progresses, it transcends the realms of noise, achieving an almost musical harmony. In stark contrast to their first album, where silence was the primary medium, DJ Silenzio samples and deconstructs this silence, glitching it into a new auditory experience. The artist utilizes unconventional instruments, recording and transforming the "silence" of their production environment into a mosaic of microsounds, complemented by the deconstructed beats of the drum machine. Drawing inspiration from luminaries like Ryoji Ikeda, the album oscillates between free electroacoustic improvisations, the indeterminacy of John Cage's reductionist works, the Lowercase music of Steve Roden, and the experimental edges of glitch and IDM.

Thus, the artist continues their exploration of silence. Is true silence attainable, or is it merely a construct of our perception? Can silence be wholly eradicated without alienating the listener's sense of self?
