Tremulant wandering throughout deep space. Scans pulse beating lush sounds from local pulsar. Mega waves of radio interference. Scanning. Something making some serious groove here. We have detected... PLANEMO! Every episode we hop aboard our spaceship and search the galaxy to discover fresh and exciting sounds for the people of earth...

... aboard The Good Ship Tremulant.  We are in sub deep space, matter density about 1,000 atoms per square meter.  The ships sonic sensors picking up the background sounds from interstellar space, a slightly lower energy from not enough atoms to vibrate.  Yet, the audio sense is intense, resonates with the soul.  We pass nearby a pulsar, the remnants of a supernova, neutron and x radiation are the first signs that our aural senses will detect the sounds from another world, the energy building.  But alas, we escape the gravitation pull of the pulsar, and are jettisoned into truly deep space, matter density of a single atom per square meter, the cosmic audio background resonating with the heartbeat, we are at peace, the music in the fabric of our souls ...

It was already a while ago when we came across Thomas’ music, due to his unique remix of “Civilian”, released by Jamie Antonelli. And we loved what followed after this so it was obvious to have him on board one time. His latest releases have been brought out by the likes of underyourskin records, Audiolith or Molt.

We’re glad you feel better, Thomas, and that you were able to finish this mix for us. We love it!

The word " Tumbao" got it's break through in the "common" language back in 2001 when Celia Cruz released her hit track "La Negra Tiene Tumbao". I remember as a young boy listening to the song over and over almost everyday. The joy was transmitted from her voice to the speakers. From the speakers to the community.

By definition, tumbao represents the basic rhythm played on the bass in the Afro-Cuban music that is later translated in the basic conga drum patterns that we can appreciate in most of the contemporary Cuban music. 

El Tumbao, is one of the only musical patterns that makes my feet dance automatically. It instantly puts a smile on my face (if you know me you know this..). It is one of my favorite (if not THE favorite) patterns and, even though music has evolved in many ways, I always try to incorporate "el tumbao"  into my production and sets(at least a slight taste..).

Put the volume up and have a dance to the rhythms of what I call the modern tumbao or "The Electronic Tumbao" in this podcast.

@lola-villa-musica is a producer and DJ from Colombia. Her travels have brought her closer to her roots, taking her audiences on a sonic exploration of the American and African continent through a digital lens. 

In terms of sound, Lola talks about Magic Realism––a mixture of cosmic elements, traditional sounds and raw textures. When playing, Lola invokes fire, wind, water and earth, the smells of the Amazon rainforest mixed with thick, nasty and,utterly sexy 80s-inspired bass lines and synths. 
By adding live and acoustic elements to her performances, she sets the tone for engaging and uplifting sets. 
She’s a vivid advocate for an inclusive industry and a safe dance floor, putting together workshops for aspiring female and non-binary DJs and musical meet-ups in cities such as: Tunis, Lagos, Amsterdam, and Washington D.C. 
Her philosophy: dance music needs disruption, it needs poetry, it needs more people who cannot afford it. Dance needs more people of color, it needs more riot girls, and kranky queers. 
Lola is currently based in Washington D.C.
