Mix of the Week #198: Trujillo - Vacation Day

Originally created this past summer for Budapest's Super Italo Mixcloud. It was a blast being asked by these Italo lovers to create their second guest mix. They asked me to say a little something about it:

There's something so familiar about the sounds of Italo Disco. While growing up listening to classic American disco, New wave, and in the States what we call Freestyle and Miami bass, you can't help but be a fan of Italo. I didn't really discover it until around 2007. I was 26 years old and I heard Valerie Dore's Get Closer. I decided to explore the world she came from and was instantly hooked. Also realizing that I already knew many songs from the genre. The synth being the major and most present factor that attracts me. Now so much of what is made today derives from those quintesstential sounds. This mix reflects originals and edits of that time, as well as modern day relatives. In true Italo fashion, sometimes spacey, sometimes cheesy, sometimes upbeat, sometimes melancholic. But always delizioso!
