It is Pride Month. Many do not know that my own father was a gay black man that served in The US Army during The Vietnam War. As the rights of many come under attack, I find it important to remember the battles of the past in regards to Human and Civil Rights. This is my tribute to Harvey Milk. A true champion in the pursuit of equal treatment for all. Remember well, rights are only privileges. Privileges that can be taken away, if we do not extend them to one and all fairly, equally, and evenly.

I am a Marine Vet. It pains me to see what is happening in Afghanistan. My old unit is there right now, making a difference, trying to help. There will always be a little part of me that wants to be out there with them. No matter how old I get. 

Those that do not learn history are doomed to repeat. We forgot how bad Vietnam really was, and now, we pay for said lesson again. 

This song is born from pain. The pain my father and uncle knew as Vietnam Vets. The pain I know I suffer as a Bosnia, Somalia, and Haiti vet, and the pain I know that will haunt anyone that served in Afghanistan or Iraq. 

My Fellow Warriors, know that it is not your failure. You failed NOTHING in doing your duty. It was the politicians that failed you. It was they that sent you to these places without a clear mission. 

Do not hate your nation or others for that. Hold these political figures responsible. It is a democracy. We have a voice. Vote out the bad warmongers, and elect new leaders that will get it right the next time. 

You served to make this is a better nation and world. Do so. Stay engaged. Vote, make your voice heard. Make....a difference. Now and forever. Especially for the ones.......that cant.

I Cant Sleep

I like to look back at past projects to see if there are ways to improve my production or style. Sometimes with very little effort, a gem can be found or rediscovered. This is a mix of a song where I used my voice as a sample. But this time, I muted my sample and added a stronger snare. I must admit, even I am shocked with how crisp it sounds now compared to the vocal mix. In any case, the point is this; dont be afraid to look at ones self critically. Dont be afraid to get out of your OWN way. There is always room for improvement. Always.

Midnight Shadow Boxing (The STFU SVR Mix)

Truth Matter. Decency Matters. Right Matters. I am not a fascist. I am not a communist. I am FOR DEMOCRACY. I am for the WILL OF THE PEOPLE. I am for POWER TO ALL PEOPLE. ALL THE TIME. Only one "side" I see is fighting for DEMOCRACY. This track is a clear indication of that support.

I want to say up front. This is a an all vinyl mix set that I made back in 2004. I had like a really cheap mixer, no software to speak of, and I am pretty sure one of the channels was cutting in and out during the set. The sound quality compared to today's standards really is NOT all that good. But even with all that, it is some of the best work I have ever made, and it was fun times making it. I think that shows in the work. The introduction is by none other than President John F. Kennedy. The famous "Bear any burden" Speech. Enjoy.

There are no words that can describe the feelings I have about what is happening in Ukraine. War is hell. War is at best barbarism. This song is a tribute to the bravest people I have ever seen. The commitment to their nation and to each other as a people. Is something we can all learn from. I pray that this war ends. I pray that the people or person that started it. Gets what he or they deserve. For the children of Ukraine. For the children of the world. May they know peace. May we ALL know peace.

Deeper Meditations -- In The Mix With SVR (Sinjin von Richthofen)

I want to pick my words very carefully here. This song covers a few subjects of interest to me. Lets start with the most important. Anti Semitism. I am not an anti Semite in anyway shape or form. I have nothing but love and respect for my Hebrew Brothers and Sisters. As a Catholic, I will be the first to say we; Jewish People and Catholics, agree on half of our Holy Books. That should be a common point for tolerance and understanding. I don’t know why it is not. I despise the fact that it is not. And I don’t really get why people have a anti Semitic point of view. Jewish People are PEOPLE, just like you and me. They have no special access to Space Lasers. They are not getting secret payments from George Soros’ or what ever other boogie man bullshit that anyone would like to invent. People are people. Warmed by the same sun. Cooled by the same winter. I want to make that very clear first. 

Secondly, Its Al Pachino. Perhaps the greatest American Actor in history. How can you not love that voice? How can you not love the passion you hear? The hurt? Its art. And when one puts it to music it becomes timeless. 

Third, I am a life long Shakespeare enthusiast. It seemed a good place to start as a tribute.
