This is a live all 45 mix made with one turntable and a loop pedal. It was constructed for Red Bull's 45 night on October 27 2008 in LA. This mix includes some cutting room floor ideas from The Hard Sell (DJ Shadow and I on 8 turntables and two loop pedals) and elements from what would later be part of my one turntable/loop pedal live mix CD "Sound Of The Police", which is out now.

The Hundreds San Francisco Celebrates Its 6th Year with a Hieroglyphics Collaboration Capsule and Mixtape

 In commemoration of The Hundreds San Francisco’s 6-year anniversary, The Hundreds reunites with Bay Area hip-hop legends Hieroglyphics for a limited run of three exclusive tees. These tees will be available only at the THSF and www.shophiero.com, starting at 11am, Thursday, March 20, 2014. On the evening of this date, The Hundreds will be hosting a one-night-only event celebrating the store’s anniversary at POST Street.  Exclusively for THSF’s anniversary, a POST X Hieroglyphics mixtape will be available for download on TheHundreds.com and www.hieroglyphics.com mixed by DJ ICEWATER.

 Bobby Hundreds grew up on the esteemed Bay Area collective’s music, and all of the tees include some of his favorite elements from the Hieroglyphics legacy. From a Souls of Mischief lyric from the renowned album 93 ‘til Infinity, to a spin on an OG Del Tha Funkee Homosapien tee that, according to urban hip-hop folklore, is based on a napkin self-portrait Del drew. The Hundreds is thrilled to unite again with the Hiero crew in commemoration of THSF’s 6th year running.

 The Hundreds “Del Face” T-shirt features Del Tha Funkee Homosapien’s iconic self-portrait illustration on the front and a reappropriated The Hundreds X Hieroglyphics bomb logo at the top back. The shirt will be available in three colors.

Hieroglyphics X Hundreds POST 6th Year Anniversary Mixtape

Seeing that I just completed the Slimkid3 & Nu-Mark collaboration, I thought it was appropriate to assemble a mix that highlights both Jurassic 5 and Pharcyde at their best. I dug deep in the vaults and uncovered some never before heard multi tracks, unreleased songs and acapellas from old tapes that needed to see the light of day. This is how I’d like to see all 8 MCs from both groups trade the mic. Enjoy!

Here is a cassette I found of scratch and dialogue ideas for what would be Lesson 6 the following year. Its crude and in real time meaning not edited for the A.D.D. impaired. Have fun with this time capsule as we celebrate the 20 year anniversary of Lesson 6: The Lecture. 

Cut Chemist presents Lesson 6: The Lecture EP. Remastered for 2016 this release includes his Cut's mid-nineties opus in its original form from the original session multi-tracks with all elements intact. The original track itself is sometimes confused for the 1999 major label "watered down" rerelease. Also included is "Lesson 6: Instrumental (DIY Version)" minus the cuts and dialogue plus "Lesson 6: The Sketch" a raw and sometimes crude, unedited 15-minute practice tape that became the blueprint for this monumental lesson. 'Lesson 6' has become a spring board not only for the cut-n-paste style associated with Cut Chemist's approach to production but a feel for Jurassic 5's music as an eclectic and inventive whole.

Lesson 6 Scratch Sketches 1995

Universally acknowledged as some of the most skilled scratch DJs in the world, turntable legends the Invisibl Skratch Piklz are releasing their first ever full-length album: 'The 13th Floor.'

After nearly 16 years apart, original members Qbert, Shortkut, and D-Styles have come together again to record 'The 13th Floor.' Composed with a heavy jazz sound in mind, the roughly 35-minute LP is an amazing homage to what true DJing is – and the perfect embodiment of the iconic Invisibl Skratch Piklz sound.

Recorded using three DJ mixers and three turntables, the album showcases the trio’s deft skills and inspired talent, and displays how they have progressed and perfected their sound all while pushing the art of turntablism into brave new dimensions.

'The 13th Floor' deftly blends the abstract artistry of scratching with undeniable musicality: lush synths, warm horns, solid basslines, and fat vibes. It’s easy to feel “Fresh Out of FVCKS” – a track that creeps up the keys and slowly shoves its way in. “Kenny G’s Perm” is surprisingly relaxed, a mellow and sludge-covered jam. From the aggressive roughness of “Polka Fist Pump” to the thick sound of “The Freestyle Fanatic,” the LP flips, knocks, twists, and finds truth on the turntables.

Fusing elements of jazz, rock and hip hop, the album demonstrates true artistry, creative composition, and masterful turntablism. 'The 13th Floor' solidifies that no matter how much time has passed, the Invisibl Skratch Piklz are still among the most innovative musicians in the world.

About the Invisibl Skratch Piklz:

In 1989, three incredible DJs in the San Francisco Bay Area – DJ Qbert, DJ Apollo and Mix Master Mike – formed a crew called the Invisibl Skratch Piklz. As a crew, the guys took the idea of DJing to new heights by utilizing the turntable as a full-blown instrument and thinking of themselves beyond just DJs – together, they were a unit. Armed with turntablist skills unmatched by any in the world, the Invisible Skratch Piklz developed their style and technicality to become the first ever all-DJ group.

As the Invisibl Skratch Piklz progressed, new members joined – most notoriously being A-Trak, Shortkut, Yogafrog, and D-Styles. Together, they were unstoppable. They traveled the world, won competitions, demolished their competitors – and they paved the way for other turntablist groups such as the Executioners and Beat Junkies. Following a run that lasted more than a decade, the Invisibl Skratch Piklz performed their last show as a group in 2000 at Skratchcon in San Francisco.

Qbert and D-Styles reunited for a historic reunion performance at Low End Theory San Francisco in 2011. With the addition of Shortkut, the trio of Invisibl Skratch Piklz will be embarking on their first tour together since 2000 in support of their new album, 'The 13th Floor.'
