Here comes the fourth teaser for the 25 years Compost anniversary 10x12” – box-set. And what a stellar one. First of all, Lorenz Rhode “Back” in a Purple Disco Machine remix. The original was a 12” B-side hidden gem, released 2007 on Compost, but it caused a worldwide stir and became a true worldwide underground hit in the break dance scene. Dozens of break dancers, crews and schools used “Back” for their break dance rehearsals. We have cut a nice video of ca. 20 dancers and crews, which we found on YouTube, showing their amazing moves and grooves with “Back” in background. And to top that: Purple Disco Machine lays his funky disco hands onto it! 2018 was the year for Purple Disco Machine with four of the biggest dance tracks, with almost a few hundred million streams, various No 1 charts hits and as a high point: #2 “Beatport Artist Of All Time”. Nuff said.

Liquid Phonk’s “Starwalk” is a wonderful blax-ploited disco-house ride. It’s one of Michael Reinboth’s favorite tracks of the 25 years anniversary 10x12” box set (out of 42 tracks). Another hit maker brings down a round figure: Spiller, do you remember his world hit “Groovejet” from 2000, he gave the Trüby Trio “Make A Move” a kinda 80’s ska-disco skank groove. Very funny uplifting. Enjoy.

The lock-out laws have just been abolished a few weeks prior and Covid-19 is not yet affecting Sydney's fragile clubland. There's an air of optimism amongst local DJs, clubs and promoters: this is Sydney's chance to try and strengthen their city's electronic music scene which has taken a pounding by over-zealous legislation and insanely strict licensing.

The nice folks at Resident Advisor Sydney gave this headline gig of mine RA pick with the following description...

"Disco-flecked deep house of the highest quality from the Delusions Of Grandeur affiliate."

...so I wanted to step up and play my best NDP-style set possible for everyone involved: Not least for the Something Else guys: Dave Stuart & Alex Dimitroff, who operate a record store and a weekly club night in Sydney under harsh financial conditions.

Sometimes, a rare moment happens and you manage to play a set that both you and the crowd love. I felt really free to just do my thing on this particular night. (Helped by a great warm up from Attic).

This is a mix of new & old deep, dubby, disco-y and underground house with the type of depth and soul I like. Featuring some of my favourite producers, all-vinyl as I like to do. I really enjoyed this gig and I enjoy listening back to it. I hope you will too. Particularly if you are housebound during the C-19 health crisis.

I dedicate this to all my followers, friends and family in Sydney, London and beyond. Stay safe and healthy.

Lekind is the new generation of House Music
Born and raised in Lyon in 2000, his love of House Music began at 15 when he was digging in his father's DJ CDs. He found a little bit of Daft Punk and other classic tracks from France or Chicago.
He started to produce at 16 and he discovered some artists who'll become his influences like Phil Weeks, Oliver Dollar or DJ Sneak.
Lekind is a sample guy, so for making his tracks he draws in the genres of the Soul, Funk, Disco, Jazz, Hip-Hop and of course, in House Music.
After two years of making, he released his first EP on Phil Weeks's label Robsoul Recordings called Influences Vol.1 with several atmospheres: Deep, Classical House but mainly Jackin House. All his tracks are produced by the hardware way since 2018 with his MPC Live, Roland TR8 and MC303.

SPIXMIX 03 - Between 1995 and 2000 I was the resident DJ at House Nation, a sunday night party in Jesolo that was a fixed spot for all the djs and promoters of the area, plus of course all tireless clubbers ending there their long weekend. After paying my dues for 5 years in other smaller clubs in Venice, it was the first residency that gave me the opportunity to play alongside some of the biggest names of the italian and international scene. I would open the night and play for a few hours until the dj guest or the host Angelino would take over. It’s Angelino and Ricky Volpe that I have to thank for this opportunity, they believed in me when no one else did. In this recording I open the night for one of the best italian house djs of all time: Massimino Lippoli. You can hear many (too many) MCs, it was a common thing at the time, I can hear 4 different ones but Moony unfortunately is not one of them, she started her career as a vocalist there.
This and other recordings of House Nation exist thanks to Nicola Gardin who was the light and tech-guy of the club. I have worked in many other clubs but I have never found a rock like him, when he was there you would always find the dj booth in order and he would meticulously record every night on tape.
