Since moving to Miami a little over a year ago, I've found myself listening to tons of Latin Jazz (i.e. "Afro-Cuban" and "Afro-Brazilian" Jazz). Whether I'm hearing that Jazz live or via my new favorite radio station 88.9 WDNA (Public Radio Miami) that Latin Sound seems to always be near me. This Mix "El Baile" is a definite reflection of that South American/Cuban sound with some good 'ole African Rhythms sprinkled in for good measure. Some standout tracks on this High Energy mix include: "Africana" by Corvino Traxx, "Saxo Drama" by Boza and The Smooth "Guanile" by Johnny Fiasco. So grab a nice Cuban Cigar, some smooth Rum, and let's get ready to Dance!!!

When I think about the great Stevie Wonder, two words immediately come to mind: "Musical Genius!" Stevie's talent for playing, writing, singing and just always being in tune to what's going on with the social climate of the world; has always put Stevie in the highest of categories for any performer of any genre. Stevie Wonder has a massive catalogue of music with hundreds of masterful tunes, so narrowing them down for this playlist was extremely difficult. I was fortunate to find some incredible remixes by: Timmy Regisford & Quentin Harris, DJ Yare, and Jihad Muhammad (Bang The Drum) just to name a few. So this set should be an "Earful" for any True Stevie Fan or just a lover of Good Music. Stevie Wonder, We Salute You! The Year was 1999, and my Buddy and fellow Crate Digger, "HE3" was the first person I heard speak Her Name! Yep, HE3 basically told me that "Jill Scott had Next!" Coming from anyone else I might have just shrugged it off. But this was the guy that turned me on to The Roots at least a year before they Hit in '95, and he turned me on to Countless other Hip-Hop, Soul and Jazz tunes that became Instant Classics. So, thats when I began to get Hyped! Especially after hearing (MC) Black Thought of (The Mighty Roots Crew) give Ms. Scott Major "Props" on their album "The Roots Come Alive" on the tune 'You Got Me' (Cowritten by Jill) where we first heard the term: "Ms. Jilly from Philly!" So to say I was excited about her debut album which came out in the summer of 2000 was a Huge Understatement. Jill's debut album was so Good and it seemed it was in everybody's CD player that Summer. And as a DJ I always loved the fact that Jill wasn't afraid of a Good Remix and her early stuff had some Bangin' Remixes for sure. On This Set I tried to find some Mixes that are new to her Catalogue and some of her lesser known Jams. Over the years some really good DJ's have done some funky "JS" tributes so I wanted to at least play a couple of Newbies... So Plug in those Phones and get ready to Ride with The Great: "Jilly from Philly!"

Wow, what more can you say about the great Louie Vega! It seems for the past 25 years or so, he's had his hand in almost every single major Soulful U.S. House release in one way or another. whether its been with 'Masters at Work' (his collaboration with Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez), his work with 'Hardrive' or 'Elements of Life', and of course his endless production work with the likes of, Bebe Winans, Stephanie Mills, Roy Ayers and even "Funkmaster" George Clinton only to name a very very few. "Little" Louie has brought his "Puerto Rican South Bronx" flavor to dance floors all around the world through his endless list of productions and or his amazing DJ Sets. The good thing for Me about making this Mix was that I already had all of these tunes and many many more from Mr. Vega already in my collection. These are just a few of my Fav's... It was 1980 in Detroit Michigan where I first fell in Love with this Music. I was 13 years old and the Music of Choice for Me and my Friends was Progressive Dance Music. We didn't know it at the time but We were actually creating a Musical Lifestyle of sorts that would follow many of us the rest of our lives.

Sure there would be periods when no music was bought and no new mixes were produced, but time would go by and before you knew it This Music Thing would just Grab hold to Me again...

In 2012 My Musical Journey started again! This dance music would prompt me to start mixing on the web via my YouTube Channel with over 45K followers, and Soundcloud with over 5K and counting... This music would even take me around the U.S and as far away as Beijing China to DJ (Twice). I'm  really excited now more than ever because I am are currently living in Miami and DJing at my residency at N'Namdi Contemporary Gallery.
