How to get the most out of your new Monaberry Release

The better you understand the operation of your release, the more satisfaction it will give you. Many of the things we used to have to think about while djing are now controlled automatially but there are still some points, where a little care and understanding will yield big dividends in reliability and satisfaction.

Starting, for instance, is just a matter of turning the low pass knob and holding the filter button in the correct position to let the automatic controls operate. Sandhog and Aikon gives some advice on this. The Carpaccio EP, whether manually or automatically operated, provides the needed variation in gear ratios to enable you to take advantage of the full power and smoothness of the pa under any conditions in which you may want to party. At lower bpm, the lower frequencies allow the DJ to run faster to prevent stalling and provide more power. When playing faster, high frequencies holds dancing speed in the range for best smoothness and economy. Shifting down into lower frequencies also lets you use the mixer as a brake when descending warm ups or to slow down on slippery dance floors. Pages 29 to 30 contain instrucitons which will help you operate your release to the best advantage.

After almost 3 years since his last EP on his own, Ya Hala Ya Hala he is at it again. Bambook combines hypnotizing upbeat rhythms, eclectic samples, and basey beats into a full bodied, unique vein of electronic music.

‘Al Tawous’ in Arabic (The Peacock): This bold bird is the personification of beauty and grace, and it teaches you to be courageous, respectful, and honest. Its eye-shaped patterns on its feathers suggest the “evil eye” symbol, which typically means protection from evil.

Ubuntu, which means 'I am because we are ', is inspired by this beautiful thing called the human experience because we don't live it alone. It’s A-side heavy and dance floor ready! The tune focuses on a dark, rolling baseline and soft, mystical Arabic vocals accompanied by punchy drums, floaty synths, and leads. This tune is sure to take you on a mystical Middle Eastern journey.

The other track is called 'Sonder', which means the realisation that every passerby's life is as vivid and complex as your own. This tune ripples with pulsing sonic textures and propels forward at a softly galvanic pace as the slowly emerging melody takes center stage.

A Brief Utopia (A project by Jinjé) A Brief Utopia was born from an EP released earlier this year by Jinjé (aka, Lee J Malcolm from Vessels) on Scene Unseen. Stepping away from his usual production duties and focusing more on his passion for live drumming and percussion instruments. This was the starting block for much of the composition on the this record. He quickly realised that this would be a brilliant thing to do live and reached out to fellow musicians Danny Templeman (Submotion Orchestra, Gentleman’s DubClub) and Nathan Moseley (Fwar, Brolin) to put together a high energy show aimed at clubs and festivals alike.A Brief Utopia brings a colourful, vibrant and visually engaging experience. Drawing on a love of music from around the world focused through a lens of live drumming, tuned percussion and psychedelic synth work.

Ackerman is a long experienced producer that for over a decade has been working on his progressive psytrance projects: Mr What, MUTe and more.

The EP contains two original tracks, 'Kol Ma She Sameach' with vocals by the legendary Gilad Kahana (Lead singer of the band “Girafot"). The second track, 'Express Shell Hazot' is a cooperation between Ackerman and the talented guitar player Dori Aharon.

In today’s electronic music world there are not many artists who can lay claim to a legacy like that of DJ T. Born in Dusseldorf, DJ T. (aka Thomas Koch,) re-located to Frankfurt with his family in the late 70s. During his formative years, he fell for the hypnotic grooves of disco, inspired by his parents’ record collec-tion. At the age of nine he was already completely enraptured by music and that love affair continues until this very day. He began an obsessive quest to collect music, feeding his soul with everything from Disco and Hi-Nrg, through to early Hip-Hop and Electro, Soul, Funk and R’n’B. The groovy, infectious rhythms of all those genres continue to permeate into the music he makes and plays today, providing an intrinsic part of his sound ethic. 
He took up breakdancing, before becoming a DJ, playing at private parties ini-tially before landing his first professional gigs in the late eighties. This period proved to be a pivotal moment in his life as Acid House swept through Europe, landing in Frankfurt and taking over with the launch of Sven Väth’s legendary Omen club in 1988. The first wave of House and Techno took hold and T. was there at the forefront, absorbing all the fresh new sounds from Chicago, Detroit and the UK. He picked up a residency at the infamous Music Hall and held resi-dencies at countless clubs across the city during the next 10 years from Plastik and Dorian Gray to The Box. By the end of the nineties, he was one of Frank-furt’s best-known selectors. 
In 1989 DJ T. tapped into another side of his creative energy to set up Groove Magazine. Identifying a gap in the market and fuelled by a need to satisfy his own desire for specialised music journalism, which focused on his interests – namely underground dance music. Under his leadership the magazine was launched into the public’s consciousness and he guided Groove to become one of Europe’s premier dance music publications, which it still is today. 
DJ T.’s progression continued at a pace, as he launched his own club, Monza, using the experience gained through a decade of club events and tours under the Groove Magazine banner. He also invested his skills and knowledge into con-ceiving Get Physical – a label, which remains one of the world’s best- known House and Techno platforms. Though he left in 2010, T. still occasionally A&Rs for the label, lending his uncanny ability to uncover new talent to the seminal label. 
Production-wise, he has been consistent ever since his debut release, the ‘Mon-sterbaze’ EP with Steve Bug, which was released on Poker Flat in 2000. Since then, T. has released several well-received EPs, a slew of remixes and three al-bums, ‘Boogie Playground’ in 2005, ‘The Inner Jukebox’ produced with Tho-mas Schumacher in 2009 and ‘Pleasure Principle’ in 2011. His special touch has also been employed by numerous labels to curate compilation mixes , including ‘United Under The Ball – 30 Years Of Disco’ in 2011 and ‘The House That Jack Built Vol 1 & 2’ in 2012. In 2013 he celebrated 25 years of DJing with a very personal mix compilation, followed also by ‘Body Language 15’ and col-laboration with Defected and Strictly Rhythm to celebrate the latter’s 25th anni-versary. DJ T.’s reputation for being a master selector has been cemented by these superlative collections of music, each of which has received widespread praise, often featuring many of T.’s own edits of classic tracks. 
Despite so many accolades, his passion for music remains staunch, recently making several key changes to his professional life that have inspired him to explore new terrains. With hot new releases on AUS Music, Moon Harbour, True Soul and Jackathon representing his continued to desire to push his crea-tive boundaries. 
A highly-skilled DJ and producer and an A&R with an uncanny ability to dis-cover a nurture new talent, DJ T. is a master selector and one of the industry’s most influential figures.
