Paskal & Urban Absolutes are celebrating the release of their debut album „LUX“ (released in november 2013) with a big bash, encompassing two special remix packages (vinyl and digital) and with an illustrious group of liked minded peers. Same as with their own work credo of cross-city collaborating (Paskal aka Alex lives in Berlin, Urban Absolutes aka Adrian lives in Essen) the twosome assembled half of Germany for the first, now available 12inch of the Lux remixes.

They take us from Berlin via Leipzig down to Essen and Dortmund and from there to Düsseldorf and Cologne. One of the album's standout tracks, “Take The Fall” featuring the guest vocals by Pete Josef from Bristol, has gone under the knife all in all four times. The outcomes couldn't be more diverse: Manuel Tur, the Essen based eminent deep house authority, operates yet again most meticulously and precisely to produce a true grace of a dancefloor sure shot as if by magic.  As a little surprise an infinitely meandering 303 acid bassline sets in in the second half of the track for sheer delight.

Sevensol & Bender, two of the founders of Leipzig based quality techno imprint Kann Records, don't apply less effort either and chop the track to its pieces. Without further ado the track's vocals fall by the wayside, only dare to surface muffled in a setting that couldn't be more contemporary and more today. This is German handcraft at upmost grade.

The contribution from Düsseldorf, from Sello who is just taking off these days, uses a similar technique and is free floating in the nowhere land between soulful deep house and sinister Detroit techno. A highly explosive concoction like a seven minute long coitus interrupts maintaining the tension til the redeeming finale.

The fourth mix of the bunch is by Berlin's old hand Oliver Marquardt. The man with the thousand monikers and masks (DJ Jauche, Jack Flash, Rockford Inc. and the here deployed Robin Masters Orchestra) proves for the umpteenth time why he still is regarded as one of the most sought-after remixers of a scene you can't really put a finger on. The way he drastically rearranges “Take The Fall”, how he layers vocals over vocals, incorporates a break here and there and adds extra drums to the mix is simply breathtaking. In short, orchestral!

The Paskal & Urban Absolutes party continues with two remixes for “Here Again” – another hit off the album. The former Sonar Kollektiv warhorses Trickski seem to  almost have been waiting for this assignment. The sound the Berlin based duo has been sported to perfection on their last few releases on labels like Delusions Of Grandeur and SUOL is being refined even further with this top-notch remix. This is full throttle peaktime club music with an aesthetics that will be style-defining in 2014.

And since we are making these superlative comparisons we can easily tag the remix by Henry L & Ingo Sänger (from Cologne and Dortmund) as the next blueprint of how the updated version of Chicago house has to sound like this season. Of course the awe-inspiring voice of Jazzanova singer Paul Randolph helps enormously to raise the already regal original to unexpected heights. To tell the truth, a high you don't wanna come down again from. 

That's what the second release in the Lux remixes series will most definitely cater for. Stay tuned!

Hailing from Sydney, Jerk Boy has amassed a credible catalogue of modern Disco music, the contents of which can be huddled together under the umbrella of 'music for good times'. He knows exactly how to move floors and his next single featuring Irfane is case on point.

When a deservedly hyped label like No.19 Music states that its biggest release is about to drop then a certain amount of attention is due and that’s exactly what the label’s 19th release, Tanner Ross’ ‘bSide EP’, deserves.

Despite having clocked up an impeccable discography that takes in collaborations with Soul Clap, Claude Vonstroke as well as output for Freerange, Mothership, Culprit and K7!  this is Ross’ first solo release under his given name and is causing a enormous buzz via consistent plays from Art Department, Wolf + Lamb, Soul Clap, Crosstown Rebels main-man Damian Lazarus and more. 

Adding to the two stunning originals, ‘bSide’ and ‘For You ft. Flo Night’, and pushing things into unmissable territory is a brilliant remix of the latter from Crosstown Rebels / Wolf & Lamb family member, Deniz Kurtel.

‘bSide’ itself is a mid-tempo, lazy groove which gently opens out with warm delayed vocals and creeping drums - hypnotic and subtle, it’s one hell of an intro but the drop into the fat, sumptuous bass hook is pure joy. Steadily joined by soaring, high-end keyboard licks that balance the track beautifully, there’s a sudden realisation the title of ‘bSide’ is a in-joke that’s being shared.

‘For You ft. Flo Night’ continues proceedings with a sexy, blissed out pace. Thudding, raw  and mechanical disco drums underpin yet another rich, dominant Moog bass that oozes P, G and just about every other funk there is. Floating soundscapes, gloriously sliding top lines and Flo Night’s effected vox ebb and flow like liquid while a beat-perfect arrangement allows every element to truly sing which makes for a timeless slice of music. 

Rounding things off is the prodigious talent that is Deniz Kurtel with her version of ‘For You ft. Flo Night’. Building from skittering percussive hits, dubbed-out vocals and spacious ambience into an incredibly catchy bassline, it’s a remix that unravels and combines melodies so impressively it begs repeated listens. 

With a full length for Wolf & Lamb in progress plus collaborations with Deniz Kurtel  and Soul Clap on the way, this is an essential piece of listening and one that celebrates a contemporary star….


B Side

Let’s play some “Mind Games“, full of emotions and colorful sounds build up by synths which are moving between warm moments and some creepy and intense cold feelings. With Jos & Eli we are bringing you the sound of Tel Aviv. Underground music with a lot of raw and beautiful elements. “Flashes“ feat. Ellie Ka is more drifting and softens the blow gently with it’s vocals. And finally we are “Walking On Water“ with Paula Os. A surprising one with a lot of musical passion in it and of course a great one for the dancefloor.

In today’s electronic music world there are not many artists who can lay claim to a legacy like that of DJ T. Born in Dusseldorf, DJ T. (aka Thomas Koch,) re-located to Frankfurt with his family in the late 70s. During his formative years, he fell for the hypnotic grooves of disco, inspired by his parents’ record collec-tion. At the age of nine he was already completely enraptured by music and that love affair continues until this very day. He began an obsessive quest to collect music, feeding his soul with everything from Disco and Hi-Nrg, through to early Hip-Hop and Electro, Soul, Funk and R’n’B. The groovy, infectious rhythms of all those genres continue to permeate into the music he makes and plays today, providing an intrinsic part of his sound ethic. 
He took up breakdancing, before becoming a DJ, playing at private parties ini-tially before landing his first professional gigs in the late eighties. This period proved to be a pivotal moment in his life as Acid House swept through Europe, landing in Frankfurt and taking over with the launch of Sven Väth’s legendary Omen club in 1988. The first wave of House and Techno took hold and T. was there at the forefront, absorbing all the fresh new sounds from Chicago, Detroit and the UK. He picked up a residency at the infamous Music Hall and held resi-dencies at countless clubs across the city during the next 10 years from Plastik and Dorian Gray to The Box. By the end of the nineties, he was one of Frank-furt’s best-known selectors. 
In 1989 DJ T. tapped into another side of his creative energy to set up Groove Magazine. Identifying a gap in the market and fuelled by a need to satisfy his own desire for specialised music journalism, which focused on his interests – namely underground dance music. Under his leadership the magazine was launched into the public’s consciousness and he guided Groove to become one of Europe’s premier dance music publications, which it still is today. 
DJ T.’s progression continued at a pace, as he launched his own club, Monza, using the experience gained through a decade of club events and tours under the Groove Magazine banner. He also invested his skills and knowledge into con-ceiving Get Physical – a label, which remains one of the world’s best- known House and Techno platforms. Though he left in 2010, T. still occasionally A&Rs for the label, lending his uncanny ability to uncover new talent to the seminal label. 
Production-wise, he has been consistent ever since his debut release, the ‘Mon-sterbaze’ EP with Steve Bug, which was released on Poker Flat in 2000. Since then, T. has released several well-received EPs, a slew of remixes and three al-bums, ‘Boogie Playground’ in 2005, ‘The Inner Jukebox’ produced with Tho-mas Schumacher in 2009 and ‘Pleasure Principle’ in 2011. His special touch has also been employed by numerous labels to curate compilation mixes , including ‘United Under The Ball – 30 Years Of Disco’ in 2011 and ‘The House That Jack Built Vol 1 & 2’ in 2012. In 2013 he celebrated 25 years of DJing with a very personal mix compilation, followed also by ‘Body Language 15’ and col-laboration with Defected and Strictly Rhythm to celebrate the latter’s 25th anni-versary. DJ T.’s reputation for being a master selector has been cemented by these superlative collections of music, each of which has received widespread praise, often featuring many of T.’s own edits of classic tracks. 
Despite so many accolades, his passion for music remains staunch, recently making several key changes to his professional life that have inspired him to explore new terrains. With hot new releases on AUS Music, Moon Harbour, True Soul and Jackathon representing his continued to desire to push his crea-tive boundaries. 
A highly-skilled DJ and producer and an A&R with an uncanny ability to dis-cover a nurture new talent, DJ T. is a master selector and one of the industry’s most influential figures.
