Based out of Bushwick’s Human Head Recordstore, California’s Shawn Dub and Germany’s Sticky Dojah bring you the „Records Before Rent“ show. Each month they play their latest finds and your all time favorites. Both won’t shy away from themed sets (their post election healing set was a favorite!) and often feature guests from all around the world. All vinyl, all live, all soulful. Both are heavy diggers and seasoned party rockers and love to bring it all together on air. Expect the odd classic as well as tracks and versions you’ve never heard before.

ARTNOIR (@artnoirco) is a global collective of culturalists and international non-profit who designs experiences aimed to engage this generation’s dynamic and diverse creative community. They offer an alternative perspective to the traditional arts narrative, support the freedom of artistic expression for all, and provide a platform for bold acts of creativity and storytelling. #artnoir

I was invited by ARTNOIR to create a mix to celebrate the opening of the third edition of Untitled Art, San Francisco and will be featured in the Untitled Art Podcast.(@untitledartpodcastlive) ##untitledartfair  

I decided to make a mix with some edge. In a time when electronic music has its dominance globally, its roots and richness and soul originates with Black people. This mix reflects the proliferation of that sound from Detroit to Atlanta, New Jersey to Nigeria, New York to London, Port-Au-Prince to Sweden, Kingston to Paris and beyond. It is our job as creatives of color to ensure our art is supported and amplified. Here is my contribution to this effort and in combination with this art fair, which also seeks to expand diversity in fine art, I'm grateful for the opportunity.

Absorbing the sounds of New York since her birth in Brooklyn, Tara spins a collage of soulful sounds that captures an eclectic vibe. Her sets acknowledge the past while looking to the future and celebrating the now. Tara loves nightlife, having started out as an event producer and promoter. As a member of Rare Form, she helped originate Donuts are Forever, an annual fundraiser/tribute to hip hop producer J. Dilla, as well as Makossa Brooklyn Cookout, now over 10 years strong as a beloved Brooklyn summer hang. Tara believes being a DJ is more than just playing a mix of records; it is a matter of building trust between herself and the crowd and sharing the knowledge and love she has for the music and the feelings it projects onto the listeners. The crowd trusts Tara to become part of another great night in their lives, and she returns that favor by giving them a taste of the familiar as well as something new that may be something they have never realized was needed in their musical memory
