You are invited to take a moment to contemplate what it means to embody receptivity. In what ways can you embrace and accept what is happening in your life? What can you feel going on in your body, mind, and emotions? Be receptive to it all, and allow the energy to flow into your dance. Often times it is through surrender and receptivity that a clear path forward is provided.

This set was played for Asheville Movement Collective's Sunday morning dance on May 16th. There's a lot of bird medicine in this set through the lyrics of a couple of songs. I didn't plan it out that way, it just happened. 

And so on the day of the dance, while we danced outside in my yard, of course, feeling our call a hawk circled us as Deya Dova's song "Return of the Bird Tribes" began, and then later during our closing circle as Shaunna was sharing her dance experience she noticed a hawk flying above her outside her house where she was dancing. And as she describes this to us all, my housemates and I saw our hawk return to circle above us! Praise the magic of our winged allies who help to sooth the winds of change that cross our skies. We love you!

This is the second Ecstatic Dance set I have created this year.  The first one being before I left my home to travel the country in February, now at the pinnacle of my trip I find myself atop Mount Shasta with a thriving dance community and a chance to convey, in a mix, the wave of my journey inward.  I feel so transformed that I decided to debut by a name that more represented the transformation process and the infinite possibly of my growth - Enter DJ Chrysalis.  The butterfly has been a growing totem in my life since Peru 2 years ago, and now reminds me of my ever refining process of transformation, surrender and self-actualization.

DJ Taz Rashid (DJ TAZ) brings a high vibrational energy to any crowd instantly by mixing the beats and rhythms of Love, Ancient New World, Remixes, House, Kirtan, Devotional, and all the cosmic sounds. His vision is to be a channel to cause the expansion of all those around by tapping into the creative wisdom of the body and allowing them to feel, let go and awaken. 

He has been producing and part of creating conscious events in the Midwest over the last few years and as a musician, he plays guitar, keyboard, Native American Flute, didgeridoo and hand percussion.  He takes these instruments and connects to the Divine and what comes through has the ability to move his crowd to connect to their Divine higher selves. Recently he has been performing and DJing at events such as Bhakti Fest, Serendipity Festival, Denver Chant Fest, Arise Festival, Zen Cruise, Hanuman Festival, Greenheart Transforms, Yoga Journal, Wanderlust Festivals and many more conscious gatherings.
