Hi Friends, to help me get more listens I have a request. Pls listen, like and repost the mix, and leave me three constructive comments on what you liked or what could use improvement and I'll private message you the tracklist. Thank you for the feedback and engagement! It helps me get more listens.

I've often tried creating an ecstatic wave journey without any lyric heavy songs. It never ends up happening. I just love using songs with lyrics both in english and other languages too much. But for this mix I will restrict myself to only songs that have instrumentals, or I will cut out any lyrics. I'm curious how it might land for our dance community and the creative direction it might take me on. 

I'm always trying to evolve and adapt my craft as a music weaver, and an easy way to do that is to impose restrictions that force me into uncomfortable and uncharted territories. If you'd like to journey into such an exploration, I invite you to come to this dance. 

The invitation there for you as a dancer, will be to explore the messages you find in music that is devoid of words. And also, the invitation is to explore how creative restrictions can fuel your creativity and dance expression.

Instrumental Restriction - live @ AMC {Ecstatic Dance Set by MIKAYA}

Recorded Live at the Bali Spirit Festival Gala Opening Party on May 3, 2023, at the Yoga Barn in Ubud Bali.

As soon as the Traditional Balinese Music and Dance were complete, I began to get the party going with some slow Balinese remixes while the crowd of government officials that were attending the ceremonial opening found their way out of the venue as the Ubud dancers and festival goers found their way to the dance floor. A beautiful mix of cultures.

Then we had a blast with some high-vibe music and sweet togetherness! 

In this set, I played what came to mind and had fun mixing on the spot without any plan to begin with. With that, there are a few messy spots, though mostly it was just fun! and more so a lot of magical moments and mixes came together that I couldn’t have planned. You can hear for yourself!

This set is a blend of music from around the world including upbeat funk, house, spiritual downtempo, Latin grooves, hip hop remixes and deep bass. 

There were a few hundred people throughout the night and we all got down together to start the Bali Spirit Festival off in a big way.

DJ Taz Rashid (DJ TAZ) brings a high vibrational energy to any crowd instantly by mixing the beats and rhythms of Love, Ancient New World, Remixes, House, Kirtan, Devotional, and all the cosmic sounds. His vision is to be a channel to cause the expansion of all those around by tapping into the creative wisdom of the body and allowing them to feel, let go and awaken. 

He has been producing and part of creating conscious events in the Midwest over the last few years and as a musician, he plays guitar, keyboard, Native American Flute, didgeridoo and hand percussion.  He takes these instruments and connects to the Divine and what comes through has the ability to move his crowd to connect to their Divine higher selves. Recently he has been performing and DJing at events such as Bhakti Fest, Serendipity Festival, Denver Chant Fest, Arise Festival, Zen Cruise, Hanuman Festival, Greenheart Transforms, Yoga Journal, Wanderlust Festivals and many more conscious gatherings.
