REBELLION: Welche Gefühle haben euch bei der Set-Vorbereitung begleitet?

SØREN LAGA: Für mich schwangen natürlich die anhaltende Corona Krise bei der Vorbereitung mit. Irgendwie war es in dem Moment ein richtiges Ventil, dass dringend brauchte. So war der Podcast für euer schönes Kollektiv seit langem mal wieder der erste Mix, den ich gemacht habe. Umso mehr habe ich dabei gespürt, wie sehr mir das Auflegen fehlt. Für mich persönlich ist es wichtig, eine Geschichte und somit eine besondere Atmosphäre mit der Musik zu kreieren. Ein erfolgreicher Abend war es, wenn die Feiernden mit geschlossenen Augen auf dem Dancefloor standen und sich von meiner Geschichte durch die Nacht begleiten ließen. 

AEKTSCHN: Ich persönlich gehe nie mit einem bewusst definiertem Mindset in einen Mix oder einen Gig. Meine Devise lautet hier "laufenlassen und den Moment unterstützen". Wovon ich absolut überzeugt bin ist dass der Hörer sowieso die Schwingung des Mindsets durch den musikalischen Output erlebt. 

REBELLION: Ihr liegt ein paar Jahrgänge auseinander - wie ist eure musikalische Connection entstanden?

SØREN LAGA: Ich erinnere mich noch gut, nach meiner veröffentlichten EP "Nekta" auf Radikon kam der Kontakt zwischen mir und aektschn (Andreas) zu stande. Andreas schrieb mich mit einem sehr netten Feedback an und machte mit mir nur ein paar Nachrichten später einen Termin für einen Gig auf seiner bekannten Partyreihe aektschn with Friends klar. Leider fiel das Date genau auf den Tag des ersten Lockdowns vergangenen März, so dass das Event sehr Kurzfristig abgesagt werden musste. Aus der ganzen Situation ist jedoch eine gute Freundschaft und Zusammenarbeit gewachsen, wofür ich sehr dankbar bin. Auch Musikalisch stellte sich schnell raus, dass wir beide einen sehr ähnlichen Geschmack haben, so dass eine Mischung unserer Geschmäcker jedes Mal ein mehr als interessantes Ergebnis bei B2B's mit sich bring. 

AEKTSCHN:  hab ich auf Basis seines Radikon Releases kennengelernt. Sympathie und Basis war sofort vorhanden, seit diesem Zeitpunkt sprechen wir regelmäßig und setzen Themen um. Seit 2020 kümmere ich mich zusätzlich um sein Management als Produzent

REBELLION: Was war eure letze Party-Erinnerung vor der Pandemie?

SØREN LAGA: Den letzten Gig, den ich 2020 gespielt habe war im Kölner Reineke Fuchs. Ich hatte die ehre, ein langes Set von 23 - 03 Uhr zu spielen. Also genug Zeit, einen schönen Aufbau meines Sets zu kreieren. Ich kann mich sehr gut Erinnern, welche Atmosphäre in dem Club herrschte. Für mich war es ein wirklich schöner Gig, an den ich gerne zurück denke. Auch gibt mir die Erinnerung Mut, dass wir alle in absehbarer Zeit wieder ähnliche Momente miteinander Teilen können. Leider hat mir die Pandemie einen fetten Strich durch meinen Kalender gemacht. So hätte ich nicht nur bei Andres in Ingolstadt gespielt, sondern auch kurz drauf bei euch in der Bucht. Mit viel Trauer denke ich an die versäumte Chance zurück, da es tatsächlich mein erstes mal in einem Berliner Club gewesen wäre.

AEKTSCHN: Tatsächlich ist seit der Pandemie der Anteil an gespielten Gigs gegen Null gegangen. In 2020 habe ich einen Outdoor Gig gespielt. Das fühlte sich vorab etwas spooky an, war aber dann doch ein Highlite und zeigte dass Events auch in der aktuellen Zeit mit definierten Vorkehrungen möglich ist.

~Time for our little Q&A~

>>Who are you and where are you from?
My name is Dion and I live in Amsterdam. I didn’t grow up here though, i’m originally from a small village in the east, pretty close to the german border.

>>How did your musical journey start?
When i was 16 (that’s 19 years ago) I was really into hiphop and I loved the sound of scratching so much that I just had to give it a go. So I got my first mixer (which was a realistic stereo mixer). The mixer was basically a VU meter with 2 volume faders and a headphone output (sidenote to other DJ’s, if you want to have a good laugh, you can probably find the mixer on google). Anyway we had a turntable at home and I bought a cheap 2nd hand one myself to connect it to the mixer and started fiddling around a bit. Everything changed though. When I was digging for new records, I discovered house music. I started collecting and soon afterwards started dj-ing in a nearby discotheque which was a lot of fun. I think it was in my early twenties i also started producing.

>>What do you particularly like about "slow" music?
What I particularly like about downtempo, is that every single sound in a track, gets more space to breathe, resonate and therefor really get through to you. What I also really like is that it can be experienced in many different ways. People can enjoy the music either chilling-out or dancing.

>>What is your current favorite track (on what bpm if its pitched)?
Ohh wow.. There are soo many and it's really hard to name just one track. One of the most intriguing tracks at the moment for me is Guldregn by Baime. Pitched down to 105 bpm (that’s about as fast as i go) something magical happens with this already wonderful track. It’s not in this set though, since my mood didn’t really send me a dark and techy way.

>>A set that you listen to over and over again?
I don't really listen complete sets multiple times often. If I should name one which was really gamechanging for me, I would have to mention the set Martha van Straaten played at Karl Kutter at Fusion 2015. However the most transforming set for me was get lost V by Acid Pauli.

>>Whats your favorite festival?
Ahhh.. difficult question cause there are sooo many. Nomade really tickles all my senses, but it would be really horrible of me if I wouldn't mention Fusion here, cause this festival brings me soo much inspiration year after year.
