Soca is a music genre created in the twin island nation (my homeland) of Trinidad & Tobago.  It is a descendant of calypso music,which is characterized by acoustic instruments and contain storytelling lyrics that usually addressed socioeconomic topics.  Unlike its predecessor, soca is fast-tempo, upbeat music that is played during the Carnival season.  Carnival is a traditional street parade in Trinidad & Tobago (often held the two days before Ash Wednesday).  Carnival is also celebrated in other Caribbean islands and cities and countries where the Caribbean diaspora is present.
"Ah Quick (Soca) Ting" is a 31 minute mix that contains a selection of soca music that was released between 2013-2015.

Diary of a Dulahin showcases the musical influence of the East Indian and African diaspora in Trinidad & Tobago.  Dulahin is the term given to an Indian bride. 
Chutney soca is the marriage of soca music from Trinidad & Tobago and  traditional classical Indian English, Hindustani, and Hinglish songs that contain percussive instruments like the dholak  (a two-headed hand-drum, the tabla (similar to bongo drums), and the dhantal (a long steel rod played by striking it with a horseshoe).

Selecta of Culture — A native of the Caribbean twin islands of Trinidad & Tobago, Valley V brings island soul to urban streets. After immigrating to The Bronx as a teenager, she carved out a space as a cultural curator, specializing in a rich blend of Roots, Rock, and Reggae sub-genres.

Her moniker, Valley V, is a heartfelt homage to her late father, Valentine Voisin, who introduced her to an eccentric and expansive world of music — from classic country to ’70s–’90s pop. His diverse taste laid the foundation for her genre-blending sets, where every selection becomes a tribute to legacy, rhythm, and cultural fusion.
