Mixing music enjoys constant attention from Scott Riley in our Podcast 123.  This week he works through the nuances with ease, matching both emotion and harmony in each bridge.  This track selection pushes ambient headroom to festival-sized fills.  His mixing style also bears some new face as there are bold mixes with more obvious drum track changes.  As those moments move in over the top, the progressive energy is constantly boosting the vibe up to another level of dance.  From the worldly intro, to the stormy interludes, to the housey trance at the 90-minute mark, the mix rocks.

Chris Tennant sets podcast 124 off with an intro that brings a heartbeat to mind. It's natural, soothing, and yet drives like a train on tracks. Progressive blends with melodic house and back again. There is a lot of straight-forward dance here but in Chris own way, he hangs that dance vibe on an emotional drift.  Its sublime.  Using some supreme concentration Chris has stitched together songs which have individual merit. That variety still comes through as smooth as a band plays their own hits on stage.

Episode 126 uses a much more sublime and effective ramp to attention this week.  Dare I say the intro vibe is downright sultry?  The mixes are smooth and this house music doles out that special kind of invitation.  After being totally consumed by the intro Dante makes a steady move to the energetic.  As the mix ramps away from the free-verse of Roland Clark, the house mix quickly establishes a dancefloor.  The bright stylings of Do It Baby by Sllash & Doppe set a peak for the next 30 mintues.  And no dance floor is complete without a timeless closer.  Lake Nivu by Jerro is exactly that kind of collectible.

This podcast has become as much a passion as anything in my life.  I am grateful for the people I work with, every single week.  Its a positive and encouraging band of talent.  Without it my life would be dramatically different.  After many months hiatus I am also thankful to help fill in some guest spots with my current favs from the vast pool of summer releases. Scott Riley takes the edge off with Episode 128.  The beginning of the mix lays down long melodic vibes with mixes nothing short of sublime.  Artists like Monolink and Gabe Rhome provide sophisticated atmospheres across both deep and progressive vibes.  During middle (and high road) at about an hour on the clock, a variety of male vocals with a nod to the industrial age come front and center.  Scott also makes a nice detour into funk and his consistent sounds from around the globe.  But here we find them later in the mix and even more alluring.  The seduction is smooth and complete as big progressive astronaut pushes the mix into a melodic close.

To say Chris's latest set is mad with purpose is to overlook the thoughtful attention to variety itself.  Chris has made a distinct move towards changes in tempo and vocals.  He uses both as masterful interludes among some very underground beats.  There are many memorable moments like 21 minutes in when the funk hits the fan.  Farther down the line at 40+ minutes the layers of rhythms provide enough motivation to keep turning the damn volume up.  And with a careful ear for sound quality and mastering, there is no concern for distortion or blown speakers.  Good form indeed.

This mixes shows Summer the door with a set of bangers.  At times, the mixes come out of nowhere providing space and time lofts which only highlight the powerful beats.  Check out the small holding room for your heart about 50 minutes and then watch the colors run.  At an 1:26 the energy is much more polished and relentless as the techno stabs that got you here.  Villo is never one to shy from the norm, but this mix shows off just how wide of frequency response Villo loves to play.
