it's been 2 years since we last gathered together

to commemorate Bass Coast weekend i went back and finessed my set from 2019, Sunday morning at Slay Bay. it's mostly exactly how i played it with a few tunes added and a couple removed, i had to keep the little treat at the end. closing out the stage that morning was a dream, playing music as the sun rose over that beautiful land and all the dancing sweeties. BIG LOVE out to the Bass Coast organizers and crew and all the hands and minds and hearts that come together to make it happen for us!   endlessly thankful for the opportunity to create with you. LOVE!

Recorded live on Jan 28, 2023 at Dolly Disco in Vancouver.  This is the first time we've played an all night B2B together and it ended up being one of most fun times either of us have had DJing.  We played 6 hours from open to close. This recording captures the arch of energy throughout the night, the spontaneity of trading 3 for 3, the imperfections/perfections of a live set and connection between dance floor and DJ. Never Stop Dancing is a labour of love dedicated to all those who can't stop two-steppin' to four to the floor beats, to those who constantly find themselves sayin' "one more song," to those who find their home on the dance floor. This mix series focused on amplifying the sounds of artists and DJs in the Kootenays and British Columbia who play house, disco, and techno. Bio: Inspired by the creativity, interconnectedness, and diversity of the natural world, mochilero strives to evoke a feeling of oneness on the dance floor by weaving together melodic, uplifting and soulful grooves. mochilero hosts events on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral territories of the Sinixt peoples, also known as Nelson, B.C. Through The Greater Groove, he aims to build community, solidarity, and nurture a space in which we can pursue joy in our full authenticity. 

This mix is titled "Midnight Bangers for 10 Years of Love." It was 12:30AM and I was up. We were out on the lake at my friends' stunning property, dancing under the stars, celebrating 10 years of love. Needless to say, love was in the air. The community they've fostered over the years was present, we were all connected in a multitude of ways. A good friend came up to be and said, "it is midnight, don't feel like you need to warm up the crowd, I want your fast stuff." It took me a few tracks to get into it, but I ended up taking up the challenge(which felt more like a demand at the time) and laid down a set that was out of my comfort zone. I'm not sure if it was even the vibe of the evening, as there were only about 5-10 people on the d-floor for it, but when I re-listened to the set I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the BPM and track selection. Some of the mixing was a bit abrupt for me, but that is what happens when I am scrambling to find tracks above 125 from my limited library. I learned a couple lessons on this evening. One, play what is in my heart and the people will come. Two, lots of tech-house can be fun, too :) So, here is another side of my musical taste you may not often hear. Hope you enjoy it!
