This is Wattie's first vinyl release and we are glad to have him aboard our gravy train as he delivers us the Midnight Radio EP.The first tune on the record is a must have lowdown n jazzy jam called Wake Sally Baker. This tune is an amazing dirty jazz delivery of walking bass lines and piano riffs that hit the essence of an era of jazz that few house producers have been able to relic. The piano hooks and up jumping beat make this tune a must have jam that transcends many boundaries of the many house niches.The second cut on the record is another journey through jazz called Wattie's Dream. Wicked sax licks battling relentless piano over a dreamlike groove push n pull the senses across time. Packed with melody and groove, this track is a dancefloor soul grabber, and a bit of an ass grabber as well.On the flip we have a nice n loud 45 rpm pressing of Is You Is, which perfectly complements the other two tracks on the late night jazz artifacts tip. Wattie brings this EP to a head with a swing infused vocal hook, and wicked bass undertones. Piercing piano lines work and work and take you 'round n 'round the dancefloor through to the key modulation toward the end that is the icing on the cake. Such a well rounded track for such a well rounded EP.

Flapjack Records celebrates its 5th glorious vinyl release by presenting us with Nashville, TN's cave jumping, banjo blasting wonder: Wattie Green. In the last year Wattie has become somewhat of a common household name. His fine mid Tennessee cooking can be found in most dj's recipe boxes. On this edition of Flapjack Records, Wattie Green gives us the kitchen floor filler Sea Lion Woman EP, which has been long awaited by many householders this whole last year.

The title track Sea Lion Woman is an instant classic. The vocal on this track comes from an old playground rhyme that is unbelievably catchy, full of soul, and even incorporates the original 1939 recording. This vocal over Wattie's signature beats and bass line mix perfectly like eggs, flour, and sugar, adding more cookies in the cookie jar.

Mid Tenn Strut is swing time Wattie specialty. This tune sets the tone with a jackin' piano base, wily jazzy guitar lead center, and fresh saxophone frosting. Wattie's niche sound is basted all over this delicious delight.

On the flip side we have our other Tennessee favorites Real Time Hand Motion who take Sea Lion Woman to the next level with there smoothed out soul remix. An excellent addition contrasting the original but adding so much more flavor.

Last but not least is Flapjack veteran Bryan Jones remixing the previously released digital exclusive Bob Speaks. Bryan's walking acoustic bass line remix drives home and then back out to the store for some more fixins to fill up the whole family. A perfect mix to round out the meal and a great savory and sweet release to kick off the new year.

This marks Wattie Green's third vinyl release on Flapjack Records and certainly shines above the rest of his big swill releases. It is great to get drunk with an old friend again, so sit back and throw this sip of whiskey on the decks and enjoy some true southern comfort.

The "Bottle of Justice EP" opens with a floor filling romper entitled "Don't Stop". This tune is a sure fire classic put to the test of years of uninhibited drinking and still has the muster to work up a fuss in the dance hall. This tune will work on any dance floor anywhere from a big boot scoot n boogie out in the barn all the way to your grandpa's living room.

To accompany the lead track is the "Don't Stop (Dub Mix)", which is a play on the first one but with a little more emotion and a nice minor key groove for all you heart breakers. Put a little of this in the punch at the sock hop and you are sure to get to second base at least. If not, just keep playing the tune and maybe try washing your ass or something.

On the back of the bottle we have one of my favorite ingredients, "Knock John Booker". This is a seriously smooth jam complete with a firewater keys sample a la Wattie's signature style. The rug underneath the front of your gramophone will surely need a cleaning after the carnage your boogie will do from listening to this gem. This is literally all that the U.S. offered the French for the Louisiana Purchase, and I think we took a loss there.

To seal the deal is "That's Jazz", a swing jam per the schematics that made Wattie Green a house hold name. This swinger has all the grains for your brain including the old time piano, horns, and swing that put the moon in shine. So step right up and grab yourselves a copy of FLAP013: Wattie Green – "Bottle Of Justice EP".
