YEAR: 1996
HISTORY: In the Summer of 1996 I was an avid tracker who used Impulse Tracker on a early P1 to compose music.  We only used 8 and 16 bit samples, but were still able to generate some pretty amazing things (for the time) without the use of a ton of expensive equipment.  At the time I was a starving college student who owned a PC and a Juno 60.  

I got involved in a little project where I composed some tracks for a game called PAINTBALL NET.  The game was originally played via VT100 clients and eventually a graphical PC interface.  It began as an "action" MUD and definitely evolved with the graphical interface.  

The game had a MODE called Bots and it was a very early form of the "Survival" and/or "Zombie" modes of today.  The games were short so I decided to write a fast paced song that fit the mood of the gametype.

This was done by djWHEAT (Parappa The Gangsta Rapper) for the Epileptic Gaming segment titled, "Top 10 Games Turned Gangster" which aired in 2004.

The original song was Cheap Cheap Chicken from Parappa The Rapper on the Sony Playstation.

Around 2007 I started the sequel to the Parappa the Gangsta Rapper series based on the title "You Gotta Believe" called - "I Gotta Sell Weed"

In 2003 S2 Games created a fucking amazing game called Savage: The Battle for Newerth.  The hosts of Epileptic Gaming played the shit out of it so we were constantly talking about it on Epileptic Gaming.  During an open phones segment we got a surprising call from Arnold Schwarzenegger who wanted to speak his mind about Savage, being a Commander, and even talk a bit about his films.

Although I had been producing shows (raves) for nearly 1 year, I had only been collecting vinyl for 6 months and hitting the decks for about 1 and a half.  After 3 months I was finally convinced to just drop a set so I could get better.

The person who convinced me is the late James Deep.He, along with Lunatik of Wreckless pretty much taught me everything I know on the decks.James Deep unfortunate passed away too young, and it was a devastating event in my life.

My son miniWHEAT, aka James Graham is actually named after James Deep.

Although this mix probably contains a ton of mistakes, the memory of this time, and the journey which came after is worth reminiscing about.
