b. Kiplin Simpson, 1976, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies. Simpson was influenced by the dancehall singers of the mid-80s and nurtured his vocal skills while in his teens. He embarked on his recording career when he met Anthony Red Rose in 1993. The singer turned producer took him to the studio where he produced his debut ‘The Rainbow Never Touched The Ground’. The song was not particularly successful, although Linen recorded further sessions for the producer’s How Yu Fi Sey Dat label. Following his initiation into the Jamaican recording industry the singer felt that his career would benefit with a relocation to London. He also ventured further afield into the European continent, recording the moderately successful ‘Jah Never Fail I Yet’, that was eventually released through EMI Records in Germany. Following his foray into Europe he returned to Jamaica where he was reunited with Red Rose. His singing style is similar to Garnett Silk, a fact acknowledged by his pseudonym: his colleagues decided that if he sounded like Silk then he should be known as Linen. By 1999, his career was firmly established when he recorded a version of Whitney Houston’s ‘My Love Is Your Love’, which re-united Linen with Red Rose who had set up the new Raggedy Joe fraternity. The hit was a dancehall smash and topped the reggae charts worldwide. Linen also had combination hits with Capleton and Anthony Malvo (‘Love Is Coming At You’) and with Silver Cat (‘Who A Di President’).

Christopher Oteng Martin (born 14 February 1987) is a Reggae or Dancehall singer/songwriter from St. Catherine, Jamaica. Chris won Digicel Rising Stars in 2005 (the Jamaican version of "American Idol") and is best known for the songs "Take My Wings", "Giving It" and "I'll Be Your Driver".

UB40 are an English reggae and pop band, formed in December 1978 in Birmingham, England. The band has had more than 50 singles in the UK Singles Chart, and has also achieved considerable international success. They have been nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album four times, and in 1984 were nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Group. UB40 have sold over 70 million records worldwide.The ethnic make-up of the band's original line-up was diverse, with musicians of English, Irish, Jamaican, Scottish and Yemeni parentage.

Their hit singles include their debut "Food for Thought" and two Billboard Hot 100 number ones with "Red Red Wine" and "Can't Help Falling in Love". Both of these also topped the UK Singles Chart, as did the band's version of "I Got You Babe". Their two most successful albums, Labour of Love (1983) and Promises and Lies (1993), reached number one on the UK Albums Chart.

The band's line-up was stable for nearly 29 years, from March 1979 until January 2008, when frontman Ali Campbell left the band, followed shortly thereafter by keyboardist Mickey Virtue. Another member, Astro, remained with the band until November 2013, when he departed the original band to team up with Campbell and Virtue in a new version of UB40. In 2014, legal advice was sought by the original band (now consisting of remaining co-founding members drummer Jimmy Brown, guitarist Robin Campbell, bassist Earl Falconer, percussionist Norman Hassan, and saxophonist Brian Travers, along with new vocalist Duncan Campbell) against the group containing Campbell, Virtue, and Astro over usage of the band name, due to it being used by both parties

The aspiring singer flew over from the Caribbean for his chance to impress the judges

In his audition, he sang Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word by Elton John.

Dalton said that he'd been preparing for the audition for seven years and described it as the most important moment of his life so far.

Not only did the singer secure four yeses, but he also got a huge hug from Ayda and Louis following his performance.

Since then, the hopeful performer has made it through the Six Chairs Challenge and the Judges' Houses for which he sang Listen from Dreamgirls.

Louis was impressed by Dalton and said: "What was so incredible, aside from the unbelievable vocal, was the whole story you told us.

"I will never listen to that song the same way ever again."

Stevie Face was born (Anwar Owen Hanchard) on February 12, 1975 in Yallahs, St Thomas, Jamaica.Face started singing from the tender age of nine (9) on his church choir.
His first recording "Teach The Children" became an overnight hit and every Jamaican child's anthem.Stevie released his first studio album in 2002, titled "Coming At You". It was produced by Stevie's Vasco Carney Ejanis Records.
He said that he got his musical influences from the Crown Prince of Reggae Dennis Emmanuel Brown.After linking up with Arrows Records in 2001, Steve started focusing on singing primarily for the ladies and crooned his way into their hearts with the mega hit “I’m In Love”.
This was Stevie’s first chart topper, it was rapidly followed up by two other Arrows produced top 20 hits “Oh Happy Day” and “For Your Love”.
After a short hiatus, He stepped back on the scene in 2006 with the street anthem “Poor Feel It” on the Purple Skunk label, followed by “Reasons” on the Arrows label, proving that he still had the goods, both songs firmly placed Stevie in the hearts of music lovers worldwide again.
However his career is about to explode with the release of two new singles, his latest hit the Computer Paul / Bootcamp Records produced “Tell It Like It Is” & “Coming Home” produced by Bobby “Digital” Dixon. Both songs are enjoying tremendous airplay both locally & abroad and are included on Stevie’s soon to be released second album simply titled “Tell it Like It Is”
Stevie’s ability to sing sweet soothing love songs has earned him many fans both locally and internationally, especially in England where he has a rapidly growing fan base.

The Oxford dictionary defines a conqueror as “a person who conquers a place or people”. This definition aptly describes “Conkarah”, one of Jamaica’s newest artistes to hit the music scene.

Twenty-six years ago Conkarah aka Nicholas Murray was born in Kingston, Jamaica to his English mother and Jamaican father. Growing up in a culturally diverse home gave this young talented artiste/song writer/musician a reason to want to explore the world. Having the opportunity to attend school in Jamaica, and USA, this gave him the exposure and hence a greater desire to explore even further and music became his vehicle of choice.

Upon leaving school, Conkarah moved to London where he spent a year working on his music and conquering the local club scene, performing in hip districts such as Camden and Porto Bello, UK. In 2009, Conkarah launched his first music video, for a reggae-dnb (drum and bass) fusion single called “Runaway.” The video, filmed on the streets of London, aired on YouTube to rave reviews.

Holding firm to his belief that as Jamaicans, reggae is encoded in our DNA, Conkarah’s journey has brought him back to his roots – Jamaica. “I had to come home to be close to the heartbeat.” Since returning, Conkarah has teamed up with producer, Niko Browne of Lifeline Music, the son of Danny Browne of Main Street Records. The duo holds in reverence the rich legacy that has been passed on to them as young musicians, and strongly believes it is their responsibility to help keep reggae music alive.

“It’s great working with someone who shares the vision and the passion,” Conkarah said of his producer. “We work closely with Niko’s father who brings a wealth of experience, and this synergy has created great music.”

Conkarah is determined to explore the music industry for years to come and, in the process, ‘conquer’ the hearts of music lovers globally.
