Trickster Spirit is a beautiful magic carpet ride of a bop, racing giddily at breakneck-speed across the more neon end of the rave spectrum. Taking in acid, hardcore, breakbeat and gabba, this is Coldsteel’s first full length long player to date, following recent EPs for the likes of Audio Bambino, Hardest Soft & Nooit Meer Naar Huis.

Young buck, Darius Shaol (aka DJ Coldsteel) delivers the goods - snacking on samples from far and wide and then spewing them up back again alongside his own deeply infectious harmonies & rhythms. Melodies are bright-eyed and bushy-tailed but divisive (see historical tricksters such as the fox, Pan and sprites et al). “Growing up in the U.S, I feel uncomfortable saying this but the album is intentionally cheeky. It lives in a cloud kingdom above grind, style and pragmatism”.

BAM-005 is the fifth EP of the BAM series: a collection of various artist compilations coming out this year & next, showcasing Bambinos from across the globe. 

In the label's words:
We are motivated by the project of harmonizing the genre-transcending parallels that we see between the artists involved. To us, music provides an opportunity to create and explore without boundaries. It’s these exact feelings we wish to share with our audience. Giving our family of artists the opportunity to create and share their music is very important to us. However, we wish to go beyond that: part of our mission is to provide the opportunity to express oneself through music to all those who seek it. We hope to accomplish this by directly giving back to the music community and other communities in need whenever possible. 

All profits of the BAM series will be donated to Hoodstock's workshop “PROJECT S.T. ARTS.”, a music oriented project that provides at risk youth with a chance to create music in a professional studio environment.
