O zouk é um estilo musical que surgiu nas Antilhas, um arquipélago que está no leste da América Central e faz fronteiras com o Mar do Caribe ao sul e oeste, com o Golfo do México ao noroeste e com o Oceano Atlântico a norte e leste. O zouk já está presente no Brasil há algum tempo em vários ritmos musicais, principalmente na região norte.

O zouk hoje foi dividido em vários estilos, o “soul zouk” foi criado na China; o “zouk r’n’b” mistura em seu ritmo o hip hop, e o “reggaeton” que é sensação nos Estados Unidos e caracterizado por ter uma batida bem acelerada.
