There's diamonds in the Earth, but when they're exposed, they're imposed upon.
There used to be rubies in a band that ran underground, now the sample can be found bound in a jar. 
                                 
Well, I tried to hesitate, but they had a time & a date, they're gonna detonate, it's gonna be too late too soon.
There's amber in her bones, but as soon as she glows the mosquitoes needle her for the marrow.
There's emeralds in my veins, but as soon as they see it they stick it to me with the I.V.

But I wanted you to have it, I wanted you to clasp it, & I wanted you to grasp every single facet. I tipped over the hourglass, & it slipped through your ears.
I wanted to keep it pure, but it got clouded, "EXTRA EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!"
The paperboy shouted, while he shrouded his secrets from you.
If the amber & the emerald were ever to fuse (ever to fuse, hidden from view)they'd be able to create a brand new blue......

Eve bit the opal & it soiled the seeds. 
Eavesdrop & listen till it glistens into something you see.
Breakdown the nerves of the Earth running under your feet.
Is it a noose, or a necklace, or a trampoline?
Gravity stands on me, scar the land with a cavity.
Insanity planted in the granite has me down on my hands & knees .
Sapphires burn the roots of the opal trees.
Reveal the pearl is the peel, but the sand is the seed.

Time is money, honey...
So they set the explosion, then the fusion & erosion are undermined.

They gotta magnify your weakness, break you into pieces, sell you individually, pocket the fee & go home.
Cut you into shape, polish up your faults, gonna lock you in a bank, gonna lock you in a vault, gonna set you in the middle of the ring, baby, they'll never let you out.  

So, what's the final cost, to put em' in a museum, pay to see em', get an idea of what we lost?
