As resident of the revered Taiwanese platform @smokemachinetaipei, @diskonnected is both a tastemaker and selector of wide esteem.
Having been an integral member of the Smoke Machine crew for over a decade, his vision has shaped both the style and presence of the platform, culminating in a range of cutting edge, high-profile events in Taiwan and around the globe, and the irreplaceable Smoke Machine Podcast, which has comfortably been one of the most respected and insightful sources of truth within the wider techno scene since its inception ten years ago.

On a personal level, diskonnected’s wide-ranging and intricately selected sounds are a true local fixture in Taiwan, but his natural prowess and flair as a DJ has seen him reach crowds the world over, with appearances at a multitude of key events in Germany, the UK, Holland, South Korea, Japan, the US and more recently in Streamland, to name but a few. 

Recorded live at a recent event at Pawnshop in Taipei, Patterns of Perception 83 finds diskonnected in an energetic mood, as he takes a vivid, groove-laden dive into the world of contemporary drum & bass. 
In this set, an impeccable array of textures flow effortlessly alongside powerful, irrepressible rhythms to exhilarating effect. Feeling simultaneously invigorating and nostalgic, these 81 mins perfectly capture the colour, vibrancy and spirit of a proper club night in full swing.

As a DJ, Aaron has become known for his taste for deep & dark, yet somehow always whimsical and warm music, having pulled together beautiful musical narratives for a range of notable mix series - this mix is no exception. I'm so happy to have him as part of the series - and can't wait to meet someday in the (hopefully) not too distant future on a dance floor :-)

This month’s Carhartt WIP Radio show features @donato-dozzy, one of the country’s most profound electronic music producers and DJs, internationally renowned for the hypnotic and manifold ways in which he can create deep, absorbing techno trips.

Dozzy first honed his skills at the mythical squat-slash-club Brancaleone in Rome, before moving to Berlin in the mid-aughts, where he elevated his signature style even further with his “Dozzy’s Night” residency at Panorama Bar. Since then, he has gone on to grace line-ups alongside esteemed peers, such as Marcel Dettmann, Jeff Mills, Surgeon, and his compatriot Marco Shuttle.

As a producer, Dozzy first began to make waves in 2004, and has since gone on to release a string of EPs and albums on labels such as Spectrum Spools, Tresor, or The Bunker New York. In addition, he also runs three record labels. Dozzy Records, launched 2006, @spaziodisponibile, established in 2016 together with DJ and producer Giuseppe Tillieci aka @neel, and his latest label @magacircemusica, together with the Spanish graphic artist and DJ @aliciacarrera. 

For Carhartt WIP Radio, Dozzy conducted a mix that gently immerses the listener into his rich body of work playing classics like “Gol” and remixes he has done for other artists, like the legendary experimental electronic group Cabaret Du Ciel. An unexpected finale of Terraforma 2019 under the guiding light of DJ Nobu.

@garcon rightly considers himself an "expert in mood modulation." He is someone who carefully builds a groove, teasing with snippets, dropping in and out of tunes and drawing out the process of gratification and please. The Swiss man does it as resident at Elysia in Basel, often with a techno foundation but drawing on niches from all over the electronic spectrum. He co-runs the Amenthia Recordings label with Agonis and has said it takes its musical identity from the utilitarian space of his home club.  

This mix was recorded there last Friday, with CDJs and 1210s, but also a Space Echo that adds extra depth throughout. Starting in a cavernous industrial space from the off, the sound of sonic decay, eerie reverb and slow motion rhythmic automation all provide details that draw you ever deep into this industrial scene. As the drums become more prominent and the tempo hurries, the mood is no less unsettling and deserted. Broken techno, lurching bass and dark dub all feature in this most skilfully restrained yet highly impactful selection.
