Eddie Richards Ibiza 2014 Summer Mix

This month we're joined by one of the driving forces behind the House & Techno music scene. Marc Schneider is often referred to as a DJ's DJ and considered to be a major influencer among some of the biggest names in the game. This month the Hamburg legend supplies us with an hour of classic tracks mixes with contemporary music. We also got the chance to ask him a few questions about his local scene, The future of vinyl, and finally what new music is keeping him inspired. Enjoy!

Phonica Mix Series 23: Marc Schneider

Eddie Richards kindly laboured over this very special mix, which features a selection of music he would have been playing at 'Slum It', a night that took place during his time at the infamous Camden Palace in the early eighties. A task that took him six weeks, as he painstakingly assembled tracks that are very difficult to mix manually, giving us a seamless presentation of some amazing music from the days before house even existed.

"He visto muchas veces Madrid en puntos en los que parece que molaba lo que estaba pasando, pero después se ha diluido todo. Es un poco la historia de siempre, siempre parece que va a pasar algo; quizás por eso al final siempre me he ido quedando, es parte del encanto por llamarlo de alguna manera, aunque al final nunca pase nada."

El que habla es Damian Schwartz, inmerso en estos momentos en el lanzamiento de su segundo disco "The Dancing Behaviour", editado en el sello A Harmless Deed. 

Nosotros tampoco sabemos si el momento (creemos que dulce) en el que se encuentra nuestra ciudad desembocará en algo más palpable, lo que si sabemos a ciencia cierta es que Damian nos entrega un mix en el que resume muy bien lo que son sus sesiones, pista y puño cerrado.

This is a mix I found on an old hard drive from 2012 that I never got round to sharing… when house was tech and tech was house and deep house was deep, you get where I’m heading. Anyway, I’m dedicating it to my amazing unique Uncle Pete… RIP.. who’s funeral was just the other day and I could not attend due to this shit show sandwich we’re all in right now. It’s  little deep, a little Jazzy.. but I think Uncle Pete would have approved in parts.. he was a proper dude and we’ll miss him very very much! Dedicated to the Greatest Uncle in the world…. And aptly named! For Pete’s Sake :) xxx
