The Healing with a Groove Team was invited to the DSU Winning the Race Conference 2015 to host a dialogue-based session with DSU students to have a conversation on building communities through heart and soul in order to create original music reflecting student thoughts, perspectives, and ideas. Together We Win - Winning the Race 2015

Our HWG Team partnered with the DSU Winning the Race Conference 2019 with guest speakers, Lance Wheeler, curator and currently serves as Museum Manager of Exhibitions of the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum located in Jackson, Mississippi, and Tara Dunn, Dean of Students at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, MS. We hosted a dialogue based session with DSU students to discuss stereotypes, code-switching, and liberation in order to create original music reflecting student thoughts, perspectives, and ideas. Be Human Together - Winning the Race 2019

HWG partnered with Jonestown Durocher Program in Jonestown, MS to bond with a group of amazing youth to help shine a light of truth within their community to encourage people outside their community look beyond the rumors, stereotypes, and outside appearance and judgment that are spread through the MS Delta about their home. They encourage everyone to come and take a look for themselves and get to know the people of Jonestown and not believe what they don't see let alone what the media portrays them to be. The Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM)(Jonestown Durocher Program) is an international congregation of Catholic Sisters, Associates and Lay Consecrated who are dedicated to the full development of the human person through education, social justice, contemplation, and the arts. Where We From By Jonestown Durocher Program

The Healing with a Groove Team came together for a week to train for another year of racial healing. This team is trained not only to stand up for what is right but also to bring change in their communities. Never Ending Struggle (Stand Up & Fight)

"EDP" (Engineering Design Process) is an original song written by two TSA (Technology Student Association) AJ and Ty, who are students at the Greenville Technical Center in Greenville, Mississippi. DMI Mobile Lab collaborated and recorded with the students to write a song that describes their process of building robotics and other projects that are related to S.T.E.M. fields. Check it out!

HWG partnered with I Challenge You (ICU) to write and produce an amazing song called "A Better Picture." The students express how they are always told what they look like, who they are supposed to be and act rather than people taking the time to get to know them. They want their community to take the time to listen to their youth to have a true understanding of who they want to be as people and the future they want to see and obtain for themselves. ICU encourages each youth to paint a better picture for themselves and not allow anyone to paint their present and future for them.

A Better Picture by I Challenge You

HWG partnered with Mrs. Williams' INSPIRE class at D.M. Smith Elementary to write and produce an inspirational song called "Not Invisible" that expresses the students' encouragement to always be yourself, know your worth, and express yourself because no one is invisible regardless if some people think you are. The students promote loving yourself to the max and beyond.  They are here and ready to not be invisible anymore to anyone! Take a listen and be yourself.

Spring 2020

D.M Smith is an elementary school in Cleveland, MS that hosts Mrs. Williams' INSPIRE class. The Cleveland School District provides a program of enrichment for intellectually gifted students. The classes are called “INSPIRE” and serve second through sixth-grade students at each elementary school and the middle schools. Students at each school spend one day per week in the gifted “pull-out” enrichment program and the rest of the week in their general education classrooms. Second through sixth-grade gifted students attends INSPIRE classes at their schools.

Our HWG Team continued our partnership with F.L.Y. Zone in Cleveland, MS to produce yet another amazing song with the HWG student participants. They want to let everyone know that no matter what happens, no matter what circumstances comes our way, in the end, we will win. These youth have a passion to not only prove what society thinks of them as incorrect, but a bigger passion to show that youth in their community has a lot to give and offer society. Your Destination by Jevon Hardy

The mission of Healing With A Groove 2.0 is to promote racial healing through the creation and production of original songs and recordings among young people of color in the Mississippi Delta through a partnership with the DMI Mobile Lab of Delta State University. This program is funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Healing With A Groove 2.0 is working to develop sustainability by establishing an alumni network of previous HWG participants in Delta communities, and providing a multimedia toolkit as a resource to local HWG groups.
