"When I first heard Korgi´s original, I was completely captivated by the simple, yet incredibly powerful lyrics. My friend Alejandro Obregon and I used to jam it together on our guitars and sing our souls out. 


This March a very close friend of mine passed away and in my grief, I listened to a playlist he created on Spotify. I was on my bike, the sun was shining and I pressed play. Suddenly I realized that beauty is constantly present, we just have to look around. Even in death, even in loss, even in grief there is beauty. We just have to change our heart. It might seem incomprehensible at first, but if we learn to be the ocean and not the wave, we will always see life for what it is. 

My take on this song takes the emotionality out a bit and opens it up for the dancefloor.

Ok, this is it, the last day of the challenge.
After twenty nine days of non stop producing music, we are concluding the project with this special collaboration with many of you.
My friend John Franzen is a gifted artist and since I was really clueless about what I should do on the last day, I picked up an idea he proposed to me earlier. The internet choir was born.
I made two posts and I luckily received answers from singers who wanted to contribute. It was quite difficult to explain the vision, it took quite some attempts, voice memos and examples. But after a couple of hours I received so many harmonies, melodies and unexpected ideas…it warmed my heart, really! You guys are great and I am incredibly happy you contributed to the last episode and made it so special! Bear in mind…these singers never met and could not hear each others vocal lines. I hope the lyrics also round up this trip :) I don’t want to write too much, but thank you all. It was quite an intense experience, I felt I was pushing my own boundaries but interestingly, I became more creative, more active, happier and more fulfilled. I really hope this serves as inspiration and motivation for many. One main takeaway about working towards a result for me was to ask myself: Am I working just to finish? Is the process not much more important? Finishing is the ability to understand the story, the process and whether or not a piece of music can be confined by these few minutes it is played. Being curious and explorative is not a goal or a finishing line. One journey ends, and the other one begins.
So go out there, be curious and you will know when to let go.

The Scumfrog on his new song Tiny Little Human: “"Sure, my quarantine is very comfortable and spacious, but it does evoke thoughts and emotions that I see resonate around me. It addresses how much I have taken for granted the value of basic touch in my daily life. I sense that many people around me are struggling with the sudden absence of human touch. I hope we can remember this frustration when it is once again ok to mingle, and to appreciate the value of a basic hug. We, as humans, made it to the top of the food chain. We essentially 'won earth', but what is that worth if we cannot touch each other?"

The remixes on this stellar package come from Australian production outfit @theoddness (delivering two funky downtempo mixes), U.S. producer @pezzner with a stripped-down haunting mix, and the emerging art collective Voodoo Porn Space Disco delivering a chugging feel-good House anthem.

The video of the song is currently in post-production, and consist of a fan-sourced collection of ‘Legotography’, where the assignment was to photograph a single Lego minifigure in a real-world setting depicting isolation and quarantine. The video is edited together by legendary film and video editor Bob Jenkis (Michael Jackson, Madonna, Chris Isaak)

@madmotormiquel is next up to join the @buntekuhpodcast family, this time offering up a tantalising pair of original works alongside two remixes from Christopher Schwarzwalder (@shuffle) and @iorie. The title track for the EP is up first as "Someone To Take Me Home", easing you into a rich, rolling groove partnered alongside delicate, reverb soaked piano parts. Closing the a-side is Christopher Schwarzwalder, who ups the energy from the original work with punchier percussion and techy melodic movements.

"Sleepwalker" is carried by a marching rhythm and simplistic bass line, easing off the gas only to welcome trippy, dreamlike synth lines that take the experience to another level. Iorie then strips things back with dark growling bass lines and vocal snippets, rounding off the collection in a vast sunset of colour.

After the 2019 launch of The Gardens of Babylon’s record label we find ourselves in a very different world. Last year’s compilation was a musical snapshot of a physical festival experience with contributions coming from those who were there. This year, the compilation assumes a different role – a sonic journey through the times, memories, and loved ones we miss, as well as a sense of comfort as we look to reunite on a dancefloor somewhere around the world...

‘The Monastery’ 2020 draws contributions from friends and family, developing its narrative from the opening percussion of Menachem 26’s ‘Kumkapi Blues’ through the closing euphoria of Glauco di Mambro’s ‘Solar Safari’. Along the way, each track reads as a different chapter, transporting listeners to the sea of smiles that make up The Monastery Festival Experience. These chapters break down the weekend, encapsulating the emotions of its many facets, locations, and feelings. With ‘Light On The Road,’ Ali Farahani sets palpable anticipation, leading into the jazzy breaks of Gorje Hewek's ‘Der Geist Seiner Zeit’. Then, Maga’s delicately brooding ‘Muzike’ (feat. Arc) makes way for the gently rising piano of Parallell’s ‘Everybody Knows’. By the time, Derun’s ‘Los Caminos de Sirkedji’ hits, things start getting twisty, day turns to night, and ‘The Monastery’ is in full swing. From here, Amine K, Niko Schwind, Noraj Cue & unders, Dauw, Madmotormiquel, and Headwaters expand consciousness through mythical, hypnotic offerings – some low slung, some deep, dark, and driving. This is where resident VANDER’s ‘Can’t Get No Sleep’ drops and sums up the experience perfectly, interjecting fresh funk into groovy percussion, before giving way to after-hour vibes courtesy of KRAUT, Franca, and Sound Shapes...
