Recording of my Sunday's afternoon set at Plan:et C (Gamma).

Felt surreal to arrive to this magical place after such a strange year. Big thanks goes to Kulturkosmos community for making this whole thing happen in such challenging times.

A dream come true, and I can only be thankful for all the listeners that took their time to listen and dance to this set. I am still overwhelmed, to be able to play at Fusion festival for the first time (officially). 

The whole recording is composed mostly by unreleased material of my own productions, including a few songs by my dear friend @avemsdream.

The live project, consisting of MTRL and Theodora, invites listeners on an unknown and surprising exploration through their own interpretation of electronic music. With their mix, they offer an insight into the landscape of their upcoming debut album „Vivarium“ on our label. Like their debut release, this logbook entry features their own approach to the art of producing alongside other tracks produced by artists of IO.

With "Vivarium", Vienna-based live duo Mitra present their debut release and their first contribution to IO Records. Known for their immersive performances and site-responsive sound explorations, Mitra translate the raw intensity and spatial awareness of their live practice into a studio recording for the very first time.

The seven-track EP unfolds as a carefully composed sonic ecosystem. Each piece functions as a distinct organism within a living structure, contributing to a sound world that feels both precise and unpredictable. Rooted in deep listening, low-end exploration, and rhythmic subtlety, Vivarium invites audiences into an environment that is in constant transformation.

Rather than relying on fixed arrangements or traditional song structures, the tracks evolve gradually. Textures shift, patterns emerge and dissolve, and moments of stillness meet waves of tension. While firmly grounded in experimental sound design, Vivarium also reveals a sense of physicality and movement. The duo’s background in their live act is present throughout, channeling the energy of their performances into compositions that retain their organic, tactile quality.

Vivarium is more than a debut. It is an invitation to enter Mitra’s sonic world. It is a space shaped by intuition, presence, and the fluid relationship between listener, sound, and environment. With this release, Mitra opens a new chapter in their artistic trajectory, offering a compelling glimpse into the evolving potential of their sound.

Hórnbęrg is born and raised at the Baltic Sea area but based in Berlin for nearly 20 years. He is the founder of Gramofonowa. and closed to some of Berlins finest collectives/series like STAUB, Intergalactic Research Institute For Sound or Art Bei Ton. His open minded view and knowledge in sound get him a job at the JustMusic Store Berlin which is a good adress to buy music instruments and everything that goes with it. As a DJ he has the palate of a true record digger, equally comfortable playing bizarre, left-field records as he is more traditional ambient and techno. He developed his ear within the rich cultural context the city of Berlin provides since the late 90s.
This has led to appearances at renowned clubs such as ://about blank, Tresor, IfZ Leipzig, UKW Kraftwerk Rostock or PAL Hamburg to name a few.

„The story behind the mixtape symbolizes a travel to the Baltic Sea and surrounding area where i was born and grew up. The mixture of field recordings from the region besides classical ambient/electronica tunes is carried out and the focus is on the element of known life, the water. It is a mental foray through all the emotions that the silence and storm of the Baltic Area states in the cradle.”
