To round out this release the Dutch duo deliver “Azul”. This one features quite a fresh drum sound, not quite like what you'd normally associate with Drum & Bass / Drumfunk but maybe what you'd associate with Radiohead or some other more “traditional” band, seeing as the room acoustics are quite evident on the drum hits. It's another piece delivered with much feeling - key loops and wistful pads evolve with an ultra resonant sub bass to make this one a real tear jerker. The sound of subtlety? No doubt!

“Does It Float” sees Infest slowing down the tempo - this one runs at around 160bpm, making it perfect material to spice up an oldskool atmospheric style set. Bird twittering's and synth pads intro a beat that flits and flutters while an 808 bass booms steadily. Guitar features again with some emotive strumming (recorded by Infest himself), giving way to some whispering female refrains. The breakdown that follows is a thing of beauty. A looping guitar and a fresh pad sound are layered over the original 6-string motif and when the breaks return it really sets it all off! Beautiful Drum & Bass.

Infest & Quasi are our guides on a tumultuous trip through a world of deftly chopped breakbeats, deep basslines and heavenly atmospherics on their debut release for Subtle Audio. “More Out Of Life” is a captivating journey in itself. Bright washes of sound wrap around rolling Soul Pride breaks interspersed with snatches of Apache and Plastic Jam. A sustained bass purr cradles the other elements but sometimes revs up to inject momentum. The mix calms and then enters a serene breakdown ... “Ugh” ! The James Brown-esque groan introduces a much more lively and intensely chopped apache section which soon gives way to a heavier “Tighten Up” rhythm and poignant, reverberated guitar plucks. The guitar progresses and combines with previously heard atmospheric elements and processed Apache licks in what is a masterful arrangement of up and down, ebb and flow throughout.
