Born in Kyoto, Japan in 1970, SINKICHI grew up soccer mad before turning to punk rock in a rebellion against the control-orientated Japanese educational system, and as a means to highlight social issues such as denuclearization and discrimination. He has played drums since the age of 15 and been a member of many different bands. In 1990, he visited the UK where he was influenced by its rave culture and electronic music, and branched out into synthesizers, tape loops and programming. From the late 90s to the early 2000s, he released many tracks as an active member of bands famous in the Japanese dance music scene, such as SOFT and AOA. Around the same time, he started DJing in earnest and played at numerous clubs and events both domestically and internationally. 

In the late 2000s, he moved to Okinawa and influenced by the folk music there started the label “budryukyu” and the band “CHURASHIMA NAVIGATOR” aiming to create an amalgam of Okinawan native music and electronic dance/bass. In 2015, he released a remix for “YAKAZA ENSEMBLE” from Turkey and in 2017, he toured from Thailand to Mongolia as a member of CHURASHIMA NAVIGATOR and toured as a DJ across Asia to build his fan base.

In 2018, the long-awaited CHURASHIMA NAVIGATOR debut album “LIFE IS TREASURE” was finally released to the delight of fans. In addition, he is actively working on various projects as a mastering engineer and aka Isatooment.

His unique and one-of-a-kind DJing style across various music genres and BPM takes audiences on a musical round-the-world trip transcending time and space. Even through playing the latest dance tracks, he gives clubbers a feeling of their roots and a means to search their souls.

Originally a drummer in a PUNK band, Sinkichi san's music still has a PUNK feel to it.But it also has a warmth that gently envelops you.
Sinkichi, who is also the remastering engineer for Yasuaki Shimizu's Re-issue album, creates music that is detailed and beautiful.
This is a mix full of warmth and hope that makes me dream of one day being able to play in Vietnam again. (Teruu)

Inspired by this UK and Industrial approach to electronic music, Mike Deem explore the world and amaze with his deep, atmospheric, dark ambient and sometimes melancholic acid melody and bass lines which result in a somewhat hypnotic Techno.

In 2019, he created with Sedric his own label Aarden Records on which artists such as Adhémar, Salah, Doctrina Natura or Eyvind Blix have signed.

He is still looking to renew and likes to use new talented producers to color in his sets. In other words, you can say that Mike Deem takes you on an intriguing mystical journey and immerses you, through various routes and dark places in a in a comfy setting, to safely take you along, with an off-beat motion to your destination.

re-me-dē Session 11 - Xandi

This hybrid DJ / Live Set was recorded in a yurt structure at the Freerotation Festival in Wales. This time my idea for the set was to take us all much further out, much deeper inside than the set from last year. A more disembodied experience. 

As I had done last year, I sat on the floor in front of the speakers to perform instead of behind them as a DJ normally does. This greatly enhanced my feeling of experiencing the set with the audience, dissolving the usual performer / audience divide.

In his own words: 

There are a bunch of nights in my career that will stay in my memory forever, and one of them is definitely the No Way Back (unannounced) experimental/ambient DJ set i was invited to play in the Outer Space room on the 27th of May 2018 when I came to Detroit to also play for Movement.

I had previously heard from plenty of people in the game that No Way Back was a very very special night and i was therefore full of expectations… well I can easily say that it went quite a bit beyond them… and I’ve been around in clubs and raves a lot as i’m (unfortunately) no spring chicken anymore...

No Way Back truly has an energy and a magic that is hard to describe unless you experience it… it has something that is viscerally rooted to Detroit and to what this city means for this music and this culture that we all love so much. There is a love and a commitment for this party coming both from the artists, the crowd and the organizers that is very unique, powerful and deep. 

I feel very lucky and honored to have had the chance to give my contribution as an artist to this special night and i’m therefore very pleased to share the recording of my set with you.

"This mix, though unintended, seems to me to reflect the changing season that is upon us.  Shorter days, more night, grey skies and cool temperatures (for the most part) here in New York.  
I don't know why but the vibe/feel of the UK electronic music i really like resonates that vibe to me.  
So this mix starts in a ambient/spacey/dubby zone moves into some drums and then backs out in dubbed out fashion.  Peace."
