Following the release of Jonas Kopp's capturing debut album and the recent Transllusion and Drexciya re-issues, the Berlin powerhouse starts the year with a bang.

Tresor Records is proud to introduce the debut collaboration between all-time reference DJ Deep, and emerging artist Roman Poncet, with two powerful 12"s released back-to-back, exploring both modern and classic interpretations of techno.

DJ Deep, uncovered by Laurent Garnier in the early ‘90s, has always rested on the cusp of modernity, whether in the realm of house or techno, relentlessly delivering visionary selections throughout. As label owner of Deeply Rooted, DJ Deep seeks out likeminded artists, including Poncet, to propel his vision of contemporary sounds.

Roman Poncet, surfaced in 2013 with a growing catalog on labels as Deeply Rooted, Taapion or Figure. The blend of the two producers is simply incendiary and their profound compatibility takes all its sense on these two EPs.

Vilnius-based label Kontrapunkt celebrates global electronic experimentation with “Kontrapunkt International,” a sprawling 23-track (!!!) VA release spanning six continents and a spectrum of genres. Housed on a vibrant double-cassette format, the compilation bridges established collaborators and fresh discoveries, offering everything from peak-time club weapons to introspective headphone journeys. This kaleidoscopic approach reflects the label’s commitment to boundary-free sound, uniting artists under a banner of bold, multi-genre innovation.

Berlin’s Adel Akram delivers one of the compilation’s standout moments with "Transponder Signal Quadrant Delta", a leftfield Techno odyssey that thrums with hypnotic precision. The track unfolds like a transmission from a distant galaxy, layered with warped synths, pulsating bass, and intricate rhythmic textures that skew conventional dancefloor logic. Akram crafts an immersive, almost psychedelic experience, where metallic echoes and granular FX dissolve into a constantly shifting soundscape. There’s a cinematic quality here, as if the track maps an abstract sci-fi narrative through its auditory twists and modular-inspired flourishes. Yet it never loses its groove, balancing cerebral experimentation with a subterranean pulse that would feel at home in both dimly lit warehouses and late-night home listening sessions. A masterclass in tension and atmosphere, Akram’s contribution epitomizes Kontrapunkt International’s ethos: global, adventurous, and unafraid to wander off the grid.

Dynamic Ukrainian producer Yan Cook makes his debut on Soma Records with the Wide Angle EP. Active on the scene for some time now and releasing on a number of top flight labels, Yan delivers a devastating 4 track EP, chalked full of his distinctive sound. 

The ominous title Wide Angle kicks things off with thumping and tripped out low end and doesnt hold back, firing straight out of the block with rapid percussion and twisted synth elements. Krater keeps up the pace with a more rolling and hypnotic feel; crushing rhythmic elements has Yan on full attack mode with this track. Blacklisted keeps up the aggressive vibes with sinister tones, growling basslines and yet more jarring and propulsive rhythms. Closing out with Red Stream, Yan continues with the malevolent vibes as dark and forbidding tones permeate throughout this perfectly crafted tool.

Yan Cook is yet another welcome addition to the ever growing roster of high quality talent on Soma.
