Over the past few years, The Jaffa Kid has been building up a strong following amongst braindance/d’n’b/acid heads, with killer releases on labels like 030303, Altered Sense, Utter, and his 2 standout “anonymous” WH03 and WH09 EPs on the Withhold label series. 

From the melody-drenched 303 acid of “Olyqu” and “Xom”, to the Bochum Welt-style electro vibes of “Ief” and “Tropet”, it was clearly just a matter of time before The Jaffa Kid appeared on Suction. We want to finish this compilation with the best production quality, with artists like Alessandro Adriani, Timothy J. Fairplay, Chino, Chupacabras, Leroy Se Meurt, Le Chocolat Noir, Univac and Adrian Marth. The a-side sounds like an late-80s industrial EBM cut, focused on playing in the heat of the club. The b-side, on the other hand, goes more towards Electro eighties, with weird sounds and a strong metallic beat- perfect for the adventerous working DJ. 200% club approved!

bouncing electro-funk swingers complemented with a certain dose of IDM-ish moodyness and melancholy. featuring cover-artwork by chris hessle reflecting the emotional state of the album with uncanny perfection "a fish eye view of problems" presents a viennese perspective on uk club culture if you will.

Being part of Vienna’s electronic music underground as a DJ, Producer and Live/Studio-Musician since 1995, MSTEP’s basslines where featured on several releases by Pulsinger & Tunakan’s label Cheap Entertainment. From his first appearance on „Puta“, a track on the album „Carrera“ by Sluts & Strings & 909 in 1996 onwards, MSTEP a.k.a. Martin Stepanek regularly pushed the studio buttons alongside the legendary producer duo until it’s split in 2004. Besides being a live/studio bassist on projects such as B.Low, Restaurant Tracks and Louie Austen, MSTEP released music with his band 550 Rondy and with the lo-ser gameboy pocketnoise-project on Cheap Entertainment and on Temp~ Records. In 2011 MSTEP launched his own label Sounding Functions and released various EPs there. 2017 saw the Release of "Cold Dust" on Berlin Electro Label TRUST. MSTEPs Music combines various influences coming from IDM, Ambient, Detroit Techno/Electro, Jungle/Drum&Bass and Dubstep.

He didn't consider himself a problem solver, solutions weren't his forte, rather he found himself growing more and more confused or flustered the longer the problem remained unanswered. Thus he'd made sure he was surrounded by others that could work these conundrums out on his behalf, however big or small. From life-changing decisions to trivial everyday occurrences, he let others guide his way, no questions asked.

It's always interesting when two seemingly disparate minds come together for a release. For the first time Capracara, the mind behind music for DFA, Cómeme & Unknown To The Unknown, joins forces with SMBD  (aka Simbad), who has releases under his belt for Hyperdub, Apron and his own Modern Dialect imprint, for a three-track EP that matches their contrasting styles. Raw and rhythmic, Club Ozone kicks off with two rhythmic machine rollers that blend elements of house, industrial and dub, whilst on the flip 'The Ozone' lightens up the vibe with a twinkling dream house number.

Lithuania's own Teatre presents a landmark 12 track album titled "Metropolis", a nocturnal tale about a city imagined, dreamed, or undiscovered. Marking a considerable tonal shift within the artist's discography, the album ventures across influences from trip-hop, ambient, downtempo, breakbeat, and house music as well as techno, while further refining the resonant synth work and emotionality from previous eras. "Metropolis" releases on all digital platforms on November 30th, 2022.

Zurich based DJ and producer Don Kashew delivers a dark dystopian journey that begins with the search for his sound from 2017 to 2021. Reflective and danceable, dark and united with melancholy an adequate follow up from his previous release on Subject To Restrictions Discs. This release is limited to 50 copies.

Between the Zuri brannt riots and the Needle Park catastrophe, two events that occurred in the eighties in Zurich and that have been underlined in the previous two DDP releases, have unfortunately backlashed in today’s world yet have also been sublimated by others in various cultural endeavours.

On a different note: “The edible seed of the cashew fruit is native to tropical climates that is rich in tryptophan, a neurochemical that our bodies turn into serotonin.”

These two subject matters, seemingly unrelated, have been channelled into one person — coinciding to make room for relief from a transformed dystopian-like era. Found from this dark period is a modern-day character that brings to the surface these once very present issues. The music and topical form that occur within this release have been created by Don Kashew, a self-described troubadour who acts as a supplier of your favourite natural antidepressant as well as an eternal fanboy to music from the past, present and future.

Don Kashew can be found either helping the Zurcher community or spinning records regularly in der Kern. The anecdotal form that this edition takes shape is the fact that Don is a city council whose department is to aid in the organisation of the clean up from the consequences of the aforementioned sociological issues. Don Kashew refutes these questions with sounds that evoke feelings of longing for another world captured in a modern time. Don Kashew’s music also refers to the irony of capitalistic studies and of the monotonous dullness that life presents. With these two aspects, merged together in a swirl, the music within this release is at the time whimsical and ironic, mature yet underlined with childlike humour. This compilation of past works is a reflection of Don’s sound development, affected through time and change, environment and empathy, diligence and insouciance, carefully packaged and influenced by his creative procedure.
