For our next release we head back across the globe to one of the worlds Progressive House hotbeds that is currently oozing with amazing talent, Sydney Australia.

Here we are pleased to welcome artist and rising star, Nine One aka Davi Pinheiro to the onedotsixtwo roster, with his 2 track EP titled Survival. 

Nine One has been making a big name for himself recently with some great releases on Sprout records and is fast becoming a firm favourite in the boxes of some of the biggest DJ’s on the planet.  

The title track Survival is the perfect dancefloor destroyer with its crispy percussion and rolling baseline weaved with melody and serious low-end that rumbles like thunder in the southern winter skies.

The second track Cortex, delivers further floor shaking flavours guaranteed to draw you into the vortex and move your feet and your mind. 

With such strong tracks on this EP we enlisted the musical acumen and sound design of Russia’s Rise and Fall, who brings his signature, straight for the jugular energy, transforming Survival into a massive dancefloor anthem that will continually bring a euphoric smile to your body every time you hear it.

Both respected players of progressive scene, Cid Inc and Dmitry Molosh have enjoyed exciting careers. Producer, DJ and Mastering Engineer, Swedish powerhouse, Cid Inc has releases on a whos who of labels and has played at all the leading clubs and festivals. Equally, Belarusian pioneer Dmitry has been trailblazing for nearly a decade and continues to have a gig diary taking him around the world. 

Opening with the title track, 'Impending Storm', the pairs unique influences find a perfect middle ground in subtle tribal drumwork. Gathering pace slowly over the first half with some nuanced layering, the track really fires off as the main break hits. With tension building throughout, the second half is trademark peak time. 

Next up, 'Coalition' takes a deeper path. Twinkling arps and rising pads draw you in as the percussive underbelly becomes more pronounced. Proper journey prog, the sonic tale they unfold keeps you hooked until the final beat. Finally, Dutch favorite, Navar reimagines 'Impending Storm'. Sub heavy drums and a skippy percussion framework clever sonic reconstruction, as Navar takes us down a dark, late night trail full of dirty synths and grimey intentions.

A respected name within the progressive house fraternity, Forerunners makes a welcome return to Meanwhile with his first full release in the shape of the "Ancient Methods" EP.

Operating out of his Arizona home, Brenden LaBonte has consistently found himself at the forefront of a distinctive underground house sound with his Forerunners soubriquet. An advocate of the quality over quantity' maxim and a sound that is full of maturity and quality, the US artist has seen his music allied to a plethora of high-profile imprints that include Anjunadeep, Silk Music, and Black Hole Recordings.

Now returning to GMJ and Matter's flagship imprint after a spell-binding interpretation of Mike Isai's "Home" in July 2021, Meanwhile's 21st release sees Forerunners open his "Ancient Methods" EP with the mesmerising title track. Full of melodic poise and rhythmic interplay, a driving beat and tight off-beat percussion heralds a dynamic opening before a mechanic bassline and syncopated groove create the foundation for delicate motifs to lilt their way across the 8-minute track with ease. Delay-infused effects and pitched synth add to the aural atmosphere at the breakdown as a sustained pad holds sway throughout to create a subtle tension and hypnotic vibe.

The complex rhythmic foundation that infuses the oxymoronic "Light in the Darkness" is a powerful forerunner for the deep melodic melange to follow. As running bassline and swirling effects build, a dizzying breakdown of looped arpeggio provides sonic intrigue and bright, uplifting zenith. Exploding into the third movement, an hypnotic melody sits against oppressive bass and rhythm to create a magical track.

Continuing the dark rhythmic narrative of its predecessors, "Valis" provides another sonic tapestry filled with texture and innovation. Beneath a ticking percussive groove and chest-thumping kick, an effects-laden and pitched oscillator bassline reveal themselves across the 6-minute offering as a mesmerising arp creates a powerful melodic presence in the mid-range. Science-fiction inspired effects that the Future Sound of London would be proud of, infuse the breakdown as the second half drops into the huge bass-heavy underpinning once more.

Redolent in modern and innovative production technique and a cutting-edge sound, Forerunners brings a scintillating new approach to "Ancient Methods".

An iconic name full of sonic juice returns to familiar alleys where Praveen Achary signals new resolve. Reverberating bass echoes in cavernous waves across a rhythmic force of nature. Subtle references to "Tejomaya" reveal themselves at the mid-point in spiralling delays and recognisable motifs. From the edge of the Persian Gulf, Paul Hamilton charts a path through the familiar waters where tumbling melodies flow in rivulets that shimmer and shake in sonic glory. Anchored by chest-thumping kick and head-nodding hi-hats, sultry rhythms showcase a glistening new edifice.
