torture reaction mechanism is a chain of emotional reactions on existential manifestations. Human psychics tend to adapt to all kinds of oppression, violence and incomprehensible states. One of the most powerful reaction mechanisms is a replacing of traumatic experience. This sound artwork is an attempt to recreate a psychic struggle between conscious and unconscious motions of the human mind. Sound fabric is organised the way to show how fear of life is trying to surface, but one’s consciousness is not allowing that. Human voice as a representative of adequacy is singing lullabies during the composition in order to calm down fetal crying caused by existential fears. In our work we’ve used a russian tradition of death lullabies, which appeals to the child to die. This is some kind of sympathetic magic trying to ask the death to come in time. The dominating emotion of the composition is a melancholy as it was understood in 19th century. We are trying to overcome the stigma of that psychic disorder and to understand mechanics of depression.

Voltage Festival is releasing a compilation of 4 EP's to celebrate five years of existence. The EP's are dedicated to four sub-genres of techno and represent the versatility in techno of Voltage Festival's line-up.

The series starts off with a classic techno EP called ‘Zener Diode’, followed by a deep techno one called ‘Wiring Harness’, an industrial release with the name ‘Circuit Breaker’ and closing with acid techno called ‘Resistor’. The artists featured on the releases already made their appearance at Voltage Festival, or are playing on this year’s edition.
