We're kicking off our 2014 release schedule with a stellar 2-track single from a new name to the Rubik artist roster, an rising star in drum & bass, and a overall master of tempos, RRD036 features the mighty Eavesdrop!

This New Zealand based producer has worked with some of the best names in the industry and had a feature album 'Pins & Needles' drop last year that made some serious noise, this single is no different.

The a-side of the release  'Sweet Escape' is just that, an escape from reality through drum & bass. As this single is due out in Winter, the warm vibes of Eavesdrop's live instruments, rolling basslines and sultry soundscapes of Keshia's vocals bring you right to the beach somewhere on holiday, sun shining and drink in hand! 

The flipside to the release shows Eavesdrop teaming up with the badman Jaybee, for a wicked collaboration on the deeper side of the spectrum. The tune starts out slow and steady with sweeping synths and chords and works it way up to a booming bassline sure to roll out o any dancefloor or MP3 player alike, big vibes from these two talented producers!

The single is due out on Rubik Digital at all digital retailers on February 3rd.

As we stumble into October, wondering where the hell 2016 went exactly, the unmistakeable chill of English weather returns to London’s air, and drops all of our moods somewhat. Fortunately, Bristol-based Imba is dropping more than temperatures, with his debut single ‘Ravana/From Within’ set to light up the dance-floor this coming winter. Having made quite the impression with his track ‘Persistence featuring Leah Costello’ – the Liquifyah crew member has delivered 2 solid tracks in this release.

‘Ravana’ captures the essence of this seasonal change, with chilling ethereal vocals, tonal percussion and menacing textures giving body the warming, rattling bassline. ’From Within’ meanwhile is more suitable of cold winters morning. Cold melodic tones usher in cooling pads, letting a warm sub bass take point under a drum break with an undeniably old school flavour.

This pair of solid rollers is sure to bring Imba to the forefront of the newcomers breaking out into the scene this year.

As one of the founders of Japan’s drum & bass culture, Makoto is a man who needs little introduction. On his sixth studio album, ‘Tomodachi Sessions’, he presents 15-tracks of exquisite, sun-drenched drum & bass soul. Each and every track is a collaboration with a close friend, that has played a part in his twenty-year career, with the likes of DJ Marky, S.P.Y, Bop, MC Conrad, Pola & Bryson, Degs, Karina Ramage and more.

The uplifting summer number, ‘Shine On Through’ is a collaboration with the young breakthrough producer Mountain from Osaka, Japan. Makoto’s signature sound is brought into 2019, soaked in a warm rolling bassline, energetic synths and topped off with vocals from the outstanding singer/songwriter Karina Ramage.

The instrumental masterpiece ‘Kosa’ features Med School’s orchestral maverick Keeno and is the perfect combination of powerful soul, epic strings and dynamic drumwork.

‘Morning Sunrise’, is a majestic dose of drum & bass and is the team effort of Makoto, Danny Wheeler and G Force. It also brings in the vocal powerhouse Blu James, also known from the Basement Jaxx classic ‘Red Alert’.

Having gained respect for the quality of his music since the days of LTJ Bukem’s Good Looking Records, Makoto has gone from strength to strength with an impressive discography that includes seminal classics like ‘Golden Girl’ ft. MC Conrad. Makoto can be found at a number of events and festivals this summer, including Hospitality In The Park 2019, Sun & Bass, Liquicity, Standon Calling, and more.
