DnB heavy-hitter Lysis has been a staple of Thunder Bay's bass music scene for nearly a decade. With regular gigs at local clubs, festival bookings at Valhalla Sound Circus, Future Forest, and Dimensional Rift, and guest mixes for the DnB Girls Podcast and dnbradio.com, Lysis has made a name for herself among DnB and electronica fans across the country. Her resume also boasts supporting slots for touring acts including Dieselboy, Downlink, Abstrakt Sonance, Laidback Luke, Cheat Codes, Grandtheft, and more.


Lysis is well known for supporting homegrown talent in Thunder Bay and the surrounding areas. As a founding member of the Thunder Bay Bass Collective, director for Sub Zero Music Festival, the former director and stage manager for the Love and Kindness Festival, and co-host of Audio Vomit on LU Radio, Lysis is actively helping to grow the Thunder Bay underground electronic scene.

Behind the decks Lysis always keeps it fresh with a versatile mixing style and bass-heavy blend of underground sounds. Her roots in techstep have a heavy influence in her selections, but Lysis keeps her audiences guessing with inclusions of everything from jungle and footwork to grime and 140. Lysis crafts every set with intention, taking the listener on a journey from start to finish, and her performances are guaranteed to keep audiences coming back for more.

To close off an amazing month, we wanted to squeeze in another upload to help us show our appreciation for your support! Given that we haven’t featured a dnb mix for a while, we wanted to present one that really hit it home for our listeners from the Thunder Bay-based dj Lysis.

If she hasn’t made it onto your radar yet, Lysis is the co-founder of both the @tbaybasscollective and Submerged Sound. She is also a host of the Thunder Bay Bass Collective radio show on Sub Fm. Although she has shared the stage with big names such as Dieselboy, Downlink, Marcus Visionary & Calyx and Teebee, Lysis has also made a name for herself working tirelessly to grow the underground scene at home. She has done this by supporting homegrown talent, new talent, diverse artists and being a strong advocate for respect and fair compensation in the industry.

Her sets touch on a broad spectrum of sub genres in the 160-180 bpm range, with a focus on crisp, hard-hitting percussion and deep, resounding basslines. Although her techstep roots usually manage to shine through, her love for exploring new sounds helps her always find interesting ways to blend it all together, keep her audience on their toes and the dancefloor moving at any venue.

Her reputation behind the decks is only further demonstrated through this 38 minute mix for Conscious Wave. In this feature Lysis seamlessly blends together uplifting liquid vibes, darker neurofunk and classic jungle bits. Although this dominates most of the mix, Lysis doesn’t shy away from revisiting her techstep roots, as well as throwing in some pop mashups, r&b vocals and rap bootlegs.

Mr. Mustachi is a veteran of Toronto's underground music scenes. Working for the last 20 years as an event organizer, performer and venue manager. He has in the past managed Nocturne and UNIUN Nightclubs, been a team member with burning man art car groups META and TARNA, ran event company NightShift Toronto, co-founded art project DOCD and recently played Harvest Festival's 25 yr Anniversary. He brings his unique style and character to multiple genre's to match any occasion. He is currently one of the driving forces of The Future Underground's KINETIC weekly Wednesday parties at The Painted Lady.
